Kenny ousted from Y100

MIAMI -- For many South Floridians, Wednesday's morning commute will not sound the same, news partner NBC 6 reported on Wednesday.

Kenny Walker, of "Kenny and Footy In The Morning," no longer works for radio station Y100.7.

Walker's contract expired Tuesday and was not renewed, NBC 6's Patricia Andreu reported.

Walker had been with the station for the past 10 years and has teamed with Footy for the past five, and "Kenny and Footy In The Morning" has become the No. 1 morning show for its demographic in South Florida. Walker has also worked as the stadium voice for the Miami Dolphins.

"You always know in the back of your mind that something could happen," Walker said. "It hits you. You kind of scratch your head and say, 'What?' But, it's a business, and I understand that the company has one way to go and their idea may not jive with my idea."

Walker said the thing he would miss the most is being able to help listeners.

"Especially when they have personal problems -- dealing with a sick kid, or maybe a surgery they need -- to be able to go in there and to have the wherewithal, to work with the radio station, the hospital, and help people. It sounds corny, but man, that's one thing I'm really, really going to miss," Walker said. "I don't know what the future holds, whether it's another media, whether it's a business opportunity. I don't know what the future's going to hold, but I tell you what, it's been a great 10-year run with a great radio station."

Footy addressed the issue on the show Wednesday morning.

"Our contracts were up as of yesterday and they basically chose not to renew Kenny's contract. I think Kenny said it best, if you've seen any of the interviews, he said it's a business decision and that's just the way it is," Footy said. "We'll all get through this and we'll get on. It isn't like Kenny died. Kenny's a professional. He's going to do great."

No reason has been given for the move. The station is also seeking a new program director and plans to reshuffle its personality lineup.

Damn that sucks! I hope he stays as the PA at the Dolphins games.

It does suck. A lot. I can't see Footy without Kenny. I can't see Kenny without Footy.

although i like paul and young ron better, its weird that they are keeping footy and not kenny..

not going to be good for them ratings wise
