March 6, 200620 yr I was pretty suprised to see 'Crash' win. It was a solid film, but I never thought of it as an Oscar caliber film (most likely because of the weak field, although I thought 'Munich' was brilliant). When people look back on that film I think they are going to see that it opened its mouth wide to scream and simply let out a whisper. The actor/actress awards pretty much went how most thought they would. Brokeback came in with the hype and didn't leave with as much hardware as I thought it would.
March 6, 200620 yr I've seen Crash. Good, but not best picture good. Years like this sometimes make you wish they'd honor more deserving films that were part of obscenely strong fields. Also, while Hoffman was brilliant in Capote, doesn't the Jamie Fox standard from Ray have to apply to Joaquin Phoenix?
March 6, 200620 yr I'm just glad that "Wallace & Gromit" won the Best Animated Movie of the Year. :thumbup I'm also surprised that a film that was advertised as Christian was able to actually pick up an Oscar, even if it was only for makeup. I never saw "Wardrobe", so I don't know if it deserved more, although most people I've seen liked it. In fact, "W&G" was the first movie I saw in-theaters since late 2002... so I'm not really interested in the Oscars as a general rule... :plain
March 6, 200620 yr I was glad Crash won. Of the pictures nominated, it was the best. Any other year it shouldn't have even been nominated, IMO. And I'm so glad Paradise Lost didn't win foreign.
March 6, 200620 yr What did you guys think of Stewart's performance last night? I thought he was good, definately going to invite him back next year. But I really like it when Billy Crystal/Steve Martin host.
March 6, 200620 yr can't believe Sandy Lyle from Along Came Polly won Best Actor, how cool is that lol
March 6, 200620 yr Author What did you guys think of Stewart's performance last night? I thought he was good, definately going to invite him back next year. But I really like it with Billy Crystal/Steve Martin host. I thought he was good as well, didn't try to be bigger then the awards themselves.
March 6, 200620 yr Best Leading Actress should have gone to Charlize Theron for "North Country". Reese Witherspoon was nothing special in "Walk The Line".
March 6, 200620 yr Stewart did a good job...in the opening segment could tell he was a little nervous, but i laughed a bunch of times at his jokes so it was good imo
March 6, 200620 yr good for three 6 mafia, i completely forgot about them and the award show. didnt even put on channel 10 once lastnight.
