Spring Training - starting pitchers shining

Featured Replies

It's only spring training, right?

They're only facing bench players and minor leaguers?

The other teams aren't taking it as seriously?

Here's something to make you hopeful:

Grapefruit League outings:

Olsen - 3 IP, 0 runs, 2 hits, 0 BB

Nolasco - 2+ IP, 0 runs, 1 hit, 2 Ks

Pinto - 2 IP, 1 run, 1 hit, 2 Ks

Moehler - 3 IP, 0 runs, 1 hit, 2 Ks

Johnson - 3 IP, 0 runs, 1 hit, 3 Ks

Vargas - 3 IP, 0 runs, 2 hits, 3 Ks

Mitre - 2 IP, 0 runs, 0 hits, 1 K

Petit - 2/3 IP, 5 runs, 3 hits,

Olsen - 2 IP, 0 runs, 0 hits

Moehler - 3 IP, 0 runs, 1 hit, 3 Ks

Willis - 2+, 1 run, 1 hit

Take away Petit's outing and you've got 25 combined innings, allowing just 2 runs.

Almost everyone competing for starting jobs has been impressive thus far. And these are in early innings, when the opposing team typically still has some decent hitters in the game.

Too bad we can't go with an eleven man rotation with Borowski as our closer.

:confused

They're facing the guys they faced in the minors so I'm glad they're doing well but I'll be impressed when they do this over the course of the season. Sorry, I'm not much of a spring training stat fan.
