Madness Parlay

So I took Florida, Duke, Gonzaga, UCLA and BC in a parlay...Bet 8.05 to get about 225 dollars.

And to cover myself, I put 5 bucks on Florida/Duke to win me 14 bucks.

With my betting history, this will backfire on me and I'll lose all the money I put in. Although I find it hard to believe Duke will lose--Florida on the other hand...that damn 2nd round curse.

Whenever I bet parlays (which is rare, but whatever), I also bet the games individually. For example, in your case, if I were to bet 30 bucks (which you didn't, but for sake of argument say you did), I'd put 5 on the 5 team parlay and 5 each on UF, Gonzaga, UCLA, BC, and Duke.

You can get screwed if all or most of the teams lose, but at least this way you cover your tracks somewhat (though I guess you did that with the Florida/Duke bet, but this is another way to do it). Plus, if you get 3 or 4 out of the 5 teams, as usually happens in parlays, you usually end up profiting.

It's really not any riskier than parlays, because in parlays if one team loses you're done, whereas the way I do it if one team loses you still end up coming out ahead or at least close to even. If all the teams lose, you're screwed, but if all the teams lose in a parlay you're also screwed.

Sure, it's not totally foolproof, but it's worked for me - in the long run I usually come out ahead when I bet parlays. Granted, I don't bet parlays all that often, but it's a system that has yet to kill me (though who knows, maybe one day it will.)

A lot of possibilities here. Very good chance I get nothing, but I think I covered myself well here.
