September 11, 200322 yr Cliff seems to be jumping on the bandwagon, or at least attempting, but given his naggin injuries, he may not be able to. Look at what he said in today's Herald article: It [Marlins win]prompted a wistful Cliff Floyd -- a former Marlin and current Met who is done for the season after undergoing foot surgery -- to tell New York reporters Tuesday that he wished his old team ''all the best,'' but that it irked him the Marlins weren't as good when he was around. ''Why couldn't that have happened when I was there?'' Floyd said. Funny coming from a guy who last year bashed the current ownership and questioning their commitment to winning. Looks like they just had to shed some 'fat' off the roster to make this team better. A year later, it seems the Marlins made an excellent move that at the time was highly debateable - by fans and media alike. It is good to see people come to their senses...
September 12, 200322 yr I KNOW LOL WE ALREADY SAW DIS. FLOYD IS SOOOO YELLOUS Can you not see you don't know how to spell?
September 12, 200322 yr Yes, the spelling isn't that bad. Its the lack of ability to understand anything. I mean, come on. Try at least.
September 12, 200322 yr Looks like they just had to shed some 'fat' off the roster to make this team better. You've got to be kidding me. I'd take Floyd over any other outfielder on this team right now.
September 12, 200322 yr Floyd is better than Encarnacion, and Cabrera, but I think JP may be more valuable to this baseball team!
September 12, 200322 yr And why is that? Why do you think JP is more valuable than someone like Cliff Floyd? I'm just wondering out of curiosity...
September 12, 200322 yr i think encaransion is better than floyd and cabera is a rookie and wil l be better than flyod. plus, flyod is always iyured anyways.
September 12, 200322 yr You've got to be kidding me. I'd take Floyd over any other outfielder on this team right now. when Floyd is healthy, he is awesome... but, health is a problem for Cliff, therefore, for the $, Id take Enc
September 12, 200322 yr You've got to be kidding me. I'd take Floyd over any other outfielder on this team right now. IMO Juanpy > Floyd Enc < Floyd, but not by very much Cabs will be > then Floyd very very soon
September 12, 200322 yr You've got to be kidding me. I'd take Floyd over any other outfielder on this team right now. :lol :lol he's on crutches :lol :lol and you would take him over any current Marlins outfielder? OMG! And it wasn't just last year, three months ago Cliffie was bad-mouthing the team, the ownership, crying crocodile tears about the plight of the Marlins, right here in south florida, with every member of the press lappin' it up. Cliff is a great hitter when he isn't hurt, the operative word being "isn't". He has a history of injuries, and last year he tried to parlay a healthy season into a $30 million contract by employing (not in the financial sense) the press as a negotiating pawn, and thankfully ownership didn't succumb to Cliff's media blackmail. He failed, he's bitter. The reason the Marlins didn't win last year or the year before, was as much his fault as anyone else's, he has to share the blame. I have favorites on this team to be sure but next year, I could care less who is playing 2nd base for the Fish if they are a contender again. Baseball players have no, zero, nada allegiance to their fans, teams or cities. As a fan all I ask of Loria and Samson and Beinfest is a winning team. Cliff? I don't miss him one bit. He did alot of damage to this franschise on the way out the door and now he's on the outside looking in. Too bad Cliffie. You reap what you sow.
September 12, 200322 yr Author You've got to be kidding me. I'd take Floyd over any other outfielder on this team right now. You would? Over Cabrera, Encarnacion, and Pierre? How is Cliffy going to do anything for you being injured? Besides, some of the main ingredients for this year's winning team are directly related to Floyd (and others) leaving. Encarnacion, Pavano, and Don Levinski - all acquired in the Floyd/Dempster deal - have contributed to this team's success. Compare Enc to Floyd, then consider Pavano's numbers and how we traded Levinski to get Conine. Then maybe you will start to see why the Marlins are winning NOW as opposed to when Floyd was here. We have a better TEAM, not a collection of individuals.
September 12, 200322 yr I think you've forgotten he's played 146,149, and 121 games the last 3 yrs. I'm not saying the Marlins would be a better team with Cliff Floyd on the roster, I was simply saying I'd take him indiviusally over any other outfielder the Marlins have, despite his injuries. Encarnacion is NOT a better player than Cliff. Encarnacion is a 260-270 hitter, 20 hr, 80-90 rbi guy, although obviously his defense his greatly superior to cliff's, id still take cliff's power over encarnacion. Cliff is a 300 hitter, 30 hr, 100+ rbi and please, Conine? haha And how did Cliff do damage to the franchise on his way out?
September 12, 200322 yr why you gotta crack on blues clues, he doesnt meen to misspell, and that was a typeo it doesnt meen he cant spell, and try to stay nice to all fellow marlins fans, you can crack on the next phillie or brave fan that come on

You still have to account for him - especially with AJ's injury and our trading prospects - we needed someone to suck up innings AND be successful. Floyd would not be helping this team out nearly as much. Ad for what it's worth, Floyd is not all that much better than Encarnacion.
