April 1, 200620 yr I thought it was a Dramady. There were a couple funny parts, but there was a lot more drama to me. I don't know. Knowing what I know of the Coen's, I decided to go with Drama. Because of the stuff between William H. Macy's character and the father, the relationship between the killers, etc. It could go either way.
April 1, 200620 yr Author See, there's little things that could make it go either way. The Paul Bunyon is just funny. The "Hey, what're you doin', I was bangin' that broad!" Uh, the scene with killer's in the car. "The-heck-d'ya-mean!?" The foot hanging out of the woodchipper, etc. But, the starkness of the atmosphere, just the story itself is just good drama.
April 1, 200620 yr Yeah I mean it's funny but the point of the movie is not just for laughs. I agree with Fritz that it's got element of black comedy, but there's a serious (sort of) story going on too. I just can't group Fargo and Airplane together, sorry.
April 2, 200620 yr It's classified as a dark comedy. It's also probably the darkest comedy that I've ever seen. The main comedic element throughout the movie was these people from Minnesota all talking like Canadians.

It can be hard to tell, but there's a difference.
April 3, 200620 yr its comedic relief ... every movie has it and I didnt think fargo was a dark comedy, it has its funny elements but its not a dark comedy ... to me its more of a suspense/thriller than a drama
