It's very simple. The majority of people wearing them do so for the 'style'. NBA is professional--and they want to separate themselves from the streetballers. If you haven't noticed, more and more younger players are bringing that fashion to the NBA.

The benefits of the tights are obvious, banning them is stupid. If anything, they should just set rules as to colors and stuff.
