Flying_Mollusk
If this happend in the US, we would have Congressional hearings. MILAN, Italy -- Inter Milan fans angered by their team's unexpected elimination from the Champions League attacked the players when they returned from an Italian league victory. Fans at Malpensa airport shouted insults as the players arrived overnight, police said. In a parking lot outside the terminal, some masked fans attacked, leaving midfielder Cristiano Zanetti with a bruise on his head. "You win when it does not count," fans shouted, according to Italian news agency ANSA. Inter won 2-1 at Ascoli on Saturday to keep alive its hopes of clinching second place in Serie A and automatic qualification for next season's Champions League. Players already received a rough welcome by fans at the airport earlier in the week following Tuesday's elimination from the Champions quarterfinals by Villarreal. Inter president Giacinto Facchetti condemned the actions by the fans. "We can't accept that the disappointment can turn into violence. ... We can't tolerate what happened at Malpensa airport," Facchetti said. Inter, despite fielding teams of top players, has not won a Serie A title since 1989. http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/story?id=364347&cc=5901

Settle down. They have sports losers, we have sports losers. Face it, there are people all over the world who takes sports too seriously. JetsMania
Thats pretty crazy, you would think its the other teams fans attacking the players not their own. Inter Milan does have some crazy fans, they were the ones last year that were throwing fireworks at AC Milan and one hit the goalie in the head. All the fans were banned for 3 games. catchoftheday
another reason why I love soccer ... who cares how many jerseys you have, these people risk their lives for their teams best thing is when away teams come to other stadiums ... their busses get their windows busted, they have rally's outside of their hotels ... they throw things in the stadium best one ever: when Luis Figo (ex barcelona player that went to Real Madrid ... the equivalent of Boston - Yankees rivarly) got a boar's head thrown at him while he was preparing to take a corner kick ... how in the devil do you get a boar's head inside a stadium is beyond me

FutureGM
I'll tell you, soccer is the only sport in the world where fans frequently die in stadiums, and players can get physically assaulted by fans for not winning enough.
