Alright, here's how this thing works. Later on in this post you will see the name of the movies nominated in this specific genre. They are presented in order by how many nominations they received, and then subsequently in order alphabetically when tied with the same number of votes. The number of nominations appears in parenthesis next to the movie title (with those not having a number receiving one nomination). Number of nominations was only the number of mentions the movie received in this specific genre.

 

Now, with that out of the way, here's the process. Simply look at the movie list and post your own list from the list of movies on the nomination list that you believe everyone, no matter what, must see. Feel free to poke fun, argue with, or ask for explanations from other users who may post lists. The point is to draw a general consensus on which movies should be viewed by everyone. If I see a movie that's getting a lot of issue over with more than one poster on each side of the debate, I'll post up a poll and have everyone speak specifically in that topic about that movie. Fun genre. The nominees list is way past flawed, though...so we all have to take some blame for that. Unless somehow Singin' in the Rain and My Fair Lady got placed in another category.

I never really got into Grease. 8 Mile isn't that good. I inexplicably despise O Brother, Where Art Thou?...one of those movies that I thought I'd love, but it just didn't happen for me. Halfway through, I just gave up trying and went to sleep.

Once again, Hedwig won't get in because no one's seen it. A great film, interesting directing choices and the music is actually good for a musical (which I normally hate).

 

Also, O Brother deserves a big time nod, even though I think it fits more in the adventure/comedy section. I mean, it's just a great film, from the washed out look of the film itself, to Clooney actually acting unlike Clooney.

This is going to turn out to be the most boring movie list ever. Mainly because "the f***s" (those whom nominated movies, then didn't vote) and the hoi polloi of this board are/were too lazy to vote.

Someone please vote Amadeus so we at least have a somewhat respectable list.

Yeah, it really sucks that people who showed up to nominate have decided they're not going to vote in the actual thing. Kind of undermines the legitimacy of the whole thing.

 

I'll give it a couple more hours.....if no more votes are made, I'll close both of them up.

Wizard of Oz and Willy Wonka get the nod from the Music category, everyone else is sent home empty handed.
