April 30, 200620 yr Lupe Fiasco's "Food and Liquor" is amazing. He might have just catapulted himself into my favorite current rapper. His lyrics are superior to anyone right now and he's skilled at rapping as well. Album comes out June 27. Standout tracks: "Kick Push," "Just Might Be Okay," "Never Lies" (produced by Mike Shinoda of Linkin Park and Fort Minor), and "Close Your Mind." "Close Your Mind" is an early favorite for Rap Song of the Year. It's about racial injustices throughout history: "Don't give the black man, food, give the red man, liquor, red man: fool, black man: n*gga. Give yellow man tool, make him railroad builder, also give him pan, make him pull gold from river. Give the black man crack, glocks and things, give red man craps, and slot machines."
