Posted April 30, 200618 yr I won a bid for my FSU Orientation Visit in June (4 nights, $51/night @ new Holiday Inn & Suites) and was considering adding a Charlotte, NC leg to the trip. Any tips for Charlotte and Priceline in general? One of my cousins moved to Charlotte from New Jersey and we would like to welcome them to the South properly. Any Priceline stories, tips, complaints, nightmares, etc. I had previously used Expedia....but you know what you get before you pay.
April 30, 200618 yr A great resource for information about Priceline hotels is http://www.biddingfortravel.com For every state/city, they have a list of recent successful bids, lists of hotels that have come up in different zones/star levels, as well as hotel reviews. I use Priceline as well as Hotwire quite frequently and have never had anything but a good expereince. Of course, remember that your credit charge will be charged at the time of purchase and there are no refunds or cancellations.
April 30, 200618 yr Author I had joined that forum...so I am glad to see it is somewhat widely known.
May 1, 200618 yr Dont get stuck at Charlottes airport. I had to sleep there one night, and it sucks major. I had to sleep on the floor under a rolling baggage cart. So, make hotel reservations in advance.
May 1, 200618 yr Author Thanks for the input, thankfully I will make the drive to Charlotte...if it happens...interesting stuff on the Queen City though. Charlotte is a stop-over for some flights from Fort Myers, so I will keep that in mind during the Severe Weather periods if I ever fly there.
May 2, 200618 yr Wait... why do you want to go to Charlotte because you're in Tallahassee? Isn't that at least an all day drive? What makes Charlotte so close to Tallahassee?
May 2, 200618 yr Author Wait... why do you want to go to Charlotte because you're in Tallahassee? Isn't that at least an all day drive? What makes Charlotte so close to Tallahassee? Charlotte is only 5-6 hours away from Tallahassee. Tallahassee is 7 hours from home. Atlanta is 9 hours from home, but 3 hours from Tally. ATL is 2-3 hours away from Charlotte. Just to extend the trip to visit family and the Carolinian Mountains.

Take US 319 from Tally to Tifton, I-75 is at Tifton...take it north to ATL....we came back from ATL to TLH that way and it took about 3 hours. Looks like the Charlotte extra leg may not happen though.

May 2, 200618 yr Author I'll take your word for it but google maps says 270 miles. Georgia Interstate Driving has an unofficial 80MPH speed minimum. :cool
