I was a bigger fan of Mario 64 than any of the sidescrollers...

same here, but the DS made the game way too easy.

Agreed. I beat the game last night and now I'm just trying to collect all the coins and get the last two worlds opened. I don't think they made it too easy, its just that if you've played any amount of Mario games over the years, you can pretty much fly through this one in no time.

Exactly. Throughout the game I've noticed elements from Super Mario Bros. SM3, SMW and even a bit from Mario 64. So pull them all together and it explains when gamers like us who have grown up with Mario has had such an easy time with the game.

another game they should re-make is Super Mario RPG, i think it was on the Super NES

Mario and Luigi: Partners in Time is another great RPG that should be checked out if you haven't done so already. There is also another Paper Mario game coming to the Cube before the end of the year.
