June 1, 200620 yr This is just comparing our good young pitchers career minor league stats...it really shows how much talent we have! 1) Jason Vargas (12-6) 2.35 ERA- 9.41 K's/9- 0.99 WHIP -Keep in mind he has been rushed....This years Albuquerque's stats are NOT included but this guy is still going to be good. 2) Yusmeiro Petit (25-16) 2.76 ERA- 11.16 K's/9- 0.94 WHIP -Great stats...has done it all at every level 3) Anibal Sanchez (12-10) 2.46 ERA- 10.98 K's/9- 1.03 WHIP -Fireballer looks good 4) Scott Olsen (22-22) 3.11 ERA- 9.78 K's/9- 1.26 WHIP -Should be in the rotation for a long time if he keeps his walks down 5) Ricky Nolasco (40-17) 3.48 ERA- 8.92 K's/9- 1.27 WHIP -He's been underrated as far as prospects go 6) Josh Johnson (23-25) 3.73 ERA- 7.29 K's/9- 1.37 WHIP -Gets better and better every year 7) Renyel Pinto (44-45) 3.91 ERA- 8.74 K's/9- 1.37 WHIP -Walks are the only problem Again, minor league stats mean nothing but its interesting to compare them. I think the 2007 Rotation may be.... 1) Olsen 2) Johnson 3)Nolasco 4) Sanchez 5) Vargas (yes he'll get another chance)......only if we trade Dontrelle.
June 1, 200620 yr Is Josh Johnson over-achieving or just getting better every year? check the "Is JJ for real?" thread for the answer, though I don't know if you posted that to actually get an answer.
June 1, 200620 yr We have so many pitchers so little space. I wonder what the Marlins are going to do in two/three years when the other pitchers are ready for the big show. I guess we have to go by trial and error. Find the real stars and trade the other ones for hitters. :confused .
June 2, 200620 yr Good summary of what the youngsters have done. Very good stats. I think we could have a problem in a few years, when they are all ready. Next years rotation could be very good. Possibly trade for some hitters??

Possibly trade for some hitters?? They probably win after we find the "perfect starting rotation". The pitchers who are going to be consistantly good for years to come.
