Computer Related Question ( think this is in the right forum)

Featured Replies

Hey guys, really need some help here..I took RcTruckers advice and looked into the Dell Inspirion E1705 and suped it up alot, Pretty much got the best of everything I could (Processor, Memory, Hard drive, video card, the works...) plus a 4 year warrantly and T.V. tuner and the price came to 2,335. I also looked at the Alienware Aurora m7700 (the blue one) dubbed the gaming laptop and the baseprice for it, with the most basic stuff and no addition upgrades is 2300. My question is, with both laptops the same price, which computer is more powerfull and better for gaming.. Here the stats

Dell Inspirion E1705:

Processor - Intel? Core? Duo Processor T2600 (2.16GHz/667MHz FSB)

Memory - 2GB Shared Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 667MHz

HardDrive - 60GB 7200RPM SATA Hard Drive

VideoCard - 256MB NVIDIA? GeForce? Go 7900 GS videocard

Alienware Aurora m7700:

Processor - AMD Athlon? 64 3200+ with HyperTransport Technology

Memory - 512MB Dual Channel DDR SO-DIMM at 400MHz - 2 x 256MB

HardDrive - 60GB 5400 RPM SATA with NCQ

Video Card 256MB NVidia? GeForce? Go 6800

I think those are all the stats you need to know. Like I said, both are the same price except the Dell comes with the 4 year warranty in the price, T.V. Tuner, Microsoft Trip, and a couple of other goodies, and the Alienware laptop is 2300 with just the baseprice, not including any upgrades for the processor, memory, videocard etc....

What should i buy?? I know the Dell comp is probably the better deal w/ the warranty but which comp is the fastest?? If I am reading the numbers right I think the Dell would be faster and better..but I am not sure. Any help would be appreciated.

The Dell only because its running a dual core and has 2 GB of RAM. Now if this was a comparison between an Intel Dual Core and an AMD X2 Dual Core with the same amount of RAM, then I would tell you that the AMD is faster.
