The man should never be forgiven for 1997. I wish he would sell the Dolphins so I could root for them again. As long as Wayne owns them they will be cursed like the Bambino for treating South Florida like a piece of trash. Imagine if the Dolphins won a Super Bowl with Dan Marino, Zach Thomas, and the Marx brothers then turned around by Pro Bowl Sunday and traded them for Trent Dilfer, Jeff Lageman, David Boston, and a Gatorade Water Cooler. Then then he would tell us all he could not afford them because he was charging his own team too much rent. Hope he gets taken out with the "garbage" that made him rich. :thumbdown

I know where you're going, but this belongs in the Other Sports forum; so, I'm moving it.

Yeah Marino could easily have won a title if Clayton and Duper had warped forward to play with Zach in a totally different time period. :lol Just kidding. Dolphins arent cursed.

Actually Beetle...I posted it to field responses from Marlins fans that feel slighted by the Same Owner being praised for his work with the Dolphins in a market he treated so poorly. Its your call, but that was the reason for the posting. Thanx :whistle

The only thing the Dolphins have been cursed with is inept coaching for the last decade prior to Saban taking over. Wayne is a great owner for the Dolphins. He's given Saban carte blanche on hiring the best coaching staff money can buy, he's put tons of money into stadium improvements and he built a new practice facility for the Dolphins. Wayne very much cares about the Dolphins and isn't willing to spend the money and make the team great.

Well he is a business guy. The Dolphins work for him money wise so he is happy to support them. The nasty side of it is the way he is still making money from the Marlins to this day without incurring any costs, which isn't particularly nice, but he really doesn't seem to care about baseball.

Everyone who works for him on the football side, including South Florida sports hero Dan Marino, say Huizenga is a great guy. With my Dolphins fan hat on, he has been a wonderful owner. It just seems that when decisions are to be made, the bottom line matters most.

The biggest thing that gets me is that he just put up $250 million of his own money to improve the club level at Dolphins Stadium Yet he didn't have the cash for a baseball stadium. Of course its good business as it helps attract superbowls and other events. If only he saw a way for baseball to make him money too :)

Even before '97 he was showing people what a jerk he was...he manages to get Jeff DeForrest canned from WIOD, tries to control WIOD programming..he had a problem with Hank calling the then-PPS "The Stadium Formerly Known As Joe Robbie"..I think he browbeat management into suspending Hank. No sectret he had this lackey Dean Jordan calling IOD when Neil was there and demanding that Neil shut up about Huizenga or WIOD would lose the Dolphins...which they did to QAM...and then when Neil went to QAM, Wayne had a shitfit over that.

As for '97...who can forget that on the first day of the '98 season, some fan in the upper level seats (Fish Tank I think?) had a sign that said "Wayne $uck$" (yes...there were dollar signs on it). Old Baldy (a Neil Rogers term) went up to the fan with security..told the fan he ought to be grateful he (Wayne) gave him a championship and then had security throw him out.

And look at the lie he told the hockey fans http://sounds1.neilrogers.com/sounds/dat001/107.mp3 And when he sold the naming rights..who was the owner of National Car Rental? Himself.

I'm not a Dolphins fan, obviously...the fact I'm a Red Sox fan should give you a hint as to who I follow in football (as well as my tattoo on my right arm and the fact that three of our cats are named Grogan, Bledsoe and Brady). Yeah the Pats had some bad owners in the past...but I thank my lucky stars we got the Krafts...who you could say are the new Robbie Family...they CARE about the fans and the team.

If the Robbies didn't sell out to Sieg Huizenga (who as a Dutchman, I'm insulted that he and I share the same heritage), they sure as hell wouldn't be this messed up...
