July 11, 200620 yr No surprise, but he got dropped by his F1 team. At least he can run the 42 car in the Busch series the rest of the year. At least that's what I assume he's goingt o do: Juan Pablo Montoya?s Formula 1 career may be over sooner than anybody thought after McLaren announced on Tuesday morning that the Colombian will play no further part in the 2006 season. The team issued a statement saying that test driver Pedro de la Rosa will take Montoya?s place in the second race seat alongside Kimi Raikkonen with immediate effect, starting from this weekend?s French Grand Prix. McLaren said Montoya?s departure was by mutual agreement to enable him to adjust to his new life in NASCAR http://www.jayski.com/cupnews.htm#scc

July 14, 200620 yr BTW Danica Patrick might be moving from the IRL to Nascar as well. IRL to Nascar isn't that big of a change. You go from open-wheel to stock cars, but they're both rolling on ovals almost exclusively. :lol :lol :lol !!!!
July 14, 200620 yr JPM is going from places like Monza, Spa, Magny Cours, Monte Carlo, San Marino.................... to Martinsville :plain, Darlington :plain and Bristol :plain.

July 15, 200620 yr JPM is going from places like Monza, Spa, Magny Cours, Monte Carlo, San Marino.................... to Martinsville :plain, Darlington :plain and Bristol :plain. Those are really great tracks. Especially Darlington. It's the places like Kansas, Chicago, Pocono, and New Hampshire that make for boring races.
July 15, 200620 yr Why Pocono and New Hampshire have two races is beyond me. I expect them to lose races when the new tracks are built in the new markets. I think what you should see ultimately is just a very select few places having two races, which makes the most sense. And they need to put a roadie into the chase.
July 15, 200620 yr A bunch of us were talking about that this past weekend. I don't understand the need and want for more cookie cutter type tracks. Why not build another mile track or another short track. Kansas and Chicago are exactly like each other and like Dodge said they aren't exactly thrilling races. If the owners built a track similar to Richmond or Bristol they would be selling out every time, but I guess you can only squeeze so many seats into a track that's less than a mile. They will be taking away some of the second races because they aren't selling that great. If California had one race I bet it would sell out everytime (similar to Chicago this past weekend), but because there is two races they don't come close to selling it out. And I agree with Das I have no idea how Pocono still has two races. I don't think anyone likes going there.
July 15, 200620 yr Well I have heard that the proposed track in NYC or the NW would be a short track....

Well Kansas and Chicago are great tracks and I'm sure would be great to see a race at, the problem is there are too many 1.5 milers and NASCAR fans as well as casual viewers want to see something different. Rockingham was a brilliant track, I wish they still raced there. I miss seeing races at Riverside (although that was ages ago). BTW Danica Patrick might be moving from the IRL to Nascar as well. No, I'm not joking. Going from open wheel to stock car, or vice versa, is an intense change. I give a lot of credit to guys like Robby Gordon who have been successful in both areas. Open wheel cars are finely tuned racing machines. Stock cars are too, but by their nature, they aren't. You drive a stock car as fast as you can keep the car from breaking out from you, and it's much more sloppy racing then driving open wheel.
