July 15, 200620 yr i have to beleive that the team does not plan to use Yusmeiro Petit as a starter anymore since they are keeping him with the team and he was warming up in the 8th inning. idk maybe we should try to trade him?
July 15, 200620 yr I think he was warming up in the 8th inning just to get a "throw day" in. He is still considered to be a starter.
July 15, 200620 yr no they won't trade him. we have a bunch of starters that we aquired in the offseason..they're finding out who will turn into a quality majorleaguer and who won't. the only way they were to trade him would be in a package for anothe player, ex. crawford (please please please).
July 15, 200620 yr As most would know, I am not nor ever have been impressed by Petit in any way. That said, got to give him a chance first. Even willing to look past his struggles so far. BUT, if someone calls and offers a MLB ready prospect or a package that includes Petit, or if Beinfest calls and they ask for Petit in return for the same, that would improve the club now and in the future, you have to do it IMO.

I also havent been impressed with Petit I think its way to early to trade him by himself because we have yet to see whats he really capable of :thumbup

July 16, 200620 yr Regardless of what his future holds, I don't think it's fair to him or his development to continue to use him as a middle relief guy. You could tell (and the scout next to me could too) that he was struggling because he 'fast-pitched' himself in the bullpen.
