July 17, 200620 yr I don't know a whole lot about the Marlins' system, so who has a chance of contributing to the team late this year and onto 2007??
July 17, 200620 yr Probably Jose Garcia or Gaby Hernandez. Then again, maybe someone from AAA, who knows. Gaby will definitely be a September call-up.

Hard to "definitely" be a call-up candidate when you're not even on the 40 man. :whistle No, but seriously, the "best of the rest" is probably Jose Garcia, as far as contributing somehow before next season is over.

I don't see how Gaby will definitely be a September call-up, when he hasnt pitched in AA yet. He also isnt even on the 40 man roster yet. Keep in mind too that there has to be spots for pitchers to pitch in before they get called up, so as far as starters go, it will depend on injuries, tiredness etc. Some of the younger guys in the minors (like Gaby Hernandez) may have also pitched a good amount of innings too, and the organization might not want them to pitch on. I'd guess pitcher wise that it'd be guys like Petit, Pinto, and Garcia who may get starts if there are starts to be had. Reliever wise you can pick any of the relievers on our 40 man roster in the minors really. If there was a guy not on the 40 man roster worth the promotion i'd say its Paul Mildren most likely to get the callup. Hitter wise, the usual bunch in AAA might get callups (Aguila, Andino, Reed). I'd actually like to see Stokes come up and get some ABs, not because he deserves them, but just to help in future evaluations regarding his spot on the 40 man roster.

July 17, 200620 yr Normally the Marlins do not call up many players in Sept...last year it was 3...but that was with Jack and he did not like to call up players to sit on the MLB bench...so with Joe who knows
July 17, 200620 yr Scott Tyler, Robert Andino, and Jose Garcia should be the next 3 prospects to make the jump(even though Andino has had some time in the past)
July 17, 200620 yr Author Hypothetical: Borowski and Herges are traded... who is called up to the bullpen alongside Messenger, Kensing, Tankersly, Resop and Vargas?? Should Garcia be given a shot as a starter, or should he be eased in as a reliever? Assuming Willis, Sanchez, Johnson, Olsen and Nolasco remain in the rotation, I guess it may be Moehler, Mitre and Petit filling out the pen.
