Phlub
Well sorry Heat fans and non-Wolves fans alike. The Wolves have just offered the NBA's TRUE MVP Kevin Garnett a contract extension. What is believed to be a multi year deal with max everything as far as cash go's, Garnett who was out of town when the offer was made is expected to reach a decision soon on whether to sign up or not. Garnett however will be at Wolves training camp regardless of if he does or not. But in an interview with Garnetts agent on KFAN 1130 AM out of Minneapolis his agent said it is 95% likely that Garnett will sign an extension in the near future and wants to remain a Timberwolve for life. That was also forwarded then by ESPN's David Aldridge on ESPN news yesterday when he said the Timberwolves Front Office expects that their franchise player "The Big Ticket" will re-sign soon and before the season is over. YES! YES! YES! The extension was announced on Sportscenter the other day but terms of the contract have not been disclosed since KG hasn't signed it YET. Das Texan
Will Garnett be getting a raise or a paycut though?
Phlub
Well he won't get a paycut. That much is evident. I'd bet he's getting whatever more raise that he can. Otherwise he'll just get a bigger bonus (they do bonuses in basketball the way they to the bonus in football right?)
Das Texan
its gotta suck to devote nearly 30 million of an approximate 42 million salary cap on one player.
minus
umm THe max now is less than what he would have been getting per year in his old contract.
Das Texan
yes the max is lower than what garnett gets... but he is grandfathered in and can still recieve raises on his old salary. i think only him and shaq still fall into this category now. garnett makes about 26 million right now i think. a pay raise will push that up closer and closer to 30 million. that salary cap is not that much over 40 million. seems like the puppies are doomed to salary cap hell for a long while to come.
