better players as in tools and skills is completely different to what the player did in a marlin uniform regardless of those tools and skills

and the years they played with the team should also be considered ... I wouldnt include a Delgado or Pudge or Benitez in an all time team

Lee nah, his best season avg with this team was .282 and 31 HR with 4 full season attempts while Delgado smoke it with a .301 BA and 33 HR in his lonely 1 season with the Fish.

Thats a dumb reason. Really it is. DLee is a better all around first basemen than Delgado ever will be and same applies for while on this team as well.

It's difficult, because we tend to take service time into account too. I agree with Catch's post above regarding this.

Lee was a better all-around player, but through most of his years here he wasn't the hitter he's become with the Cubs. I think anyone would take Delgado over DLee a couple of years ago, despite the defensive issues. However, I just don't like calling one-year Marlins like Pudge or Delgado the "greatest Marlin ever". Just doesn't sound right.

I would think Sheffield is certainly at the top of the list. Beckett & Burnett didn't have enough great seasons. Sheffield and Kevin Brown are at the top, but will be passed by Cabrera and Willis eventually if not already.

I think you can make a decent argument for Luis Castillo being the greatest Marlin player. He had a long career here and for 7 straight seasons was one of the best at what he did. Other contenders just weren't here very long. I don't think there's another Marlin that was as good as he was for more than 2 or 3 years here, except for Sheff.

If Sheffield played full seasons from 93-97 he would've put up some terrifying numbers & would be the clear choice. His '96 season still amazes me when I go back & look at the stats.

Here is a list of the best Marlins player in their position:

C - Ivan Rodriguez

1B - Delgado

2B - Luis Castillo

3B - Mike Lowell

SS - Engar Renteria

LF - Cliff Floyd

CF - Preston Wilson

RF - Jeff Conine

SP - Kevin Brown

RP - Nen

I don't know much about Fish history

CF- Juan Pierre

1B-D. Lee

Best in history - NINER!!! Nobody close to him!

Luis played for the team from '96-'05. 10 YEARS! I think 2nd would be Sea Bass or Lowell at around 7ish?
