CapeFish
2003 Division Series Umpire Rotations Announced POSTED: 4:06 PM EDT September 29, 2003 New York, NY -- Major League Baseball has assigned the four umpiring crews that will work the American and National League Division Series, scheduled to begin this week. For the National League Division Series, 33-year veteran Bruce Froemming and his crew will work Games 1, 2 and 5 of the NLDS between the Chicago Cubs and Atlanta Braves and Games 3 and 4 of the NLDS involving the San Francisco Giants and Florida Marlins. The other crew, headed by 20-year veteran John Hirschbeck, has been assigned to work Games 1, 2 and 5 of the NLDS involving the Giants and Marlins and Games 3 and 4 of the NLDS between the Braves and Cubs. miami15
Hirshbeck sucks! He has a real big strike zone
MarlinAddict
Hirshbeck sucks! He has a real big strike zone That was my first reaction, too. But maybe we can use it to our advantage. Bonds is still more likely to strikeout than HR, and with Hirshbeck it might be easier to pitch to him. It doesn't say, but my guess is that he'll be behind the plate for Beckett. CapeFish
The big zone is only good to us if we get ahead early. If we fall behind early we are doomed like in the Russ Ortiz-Josh Beckett game.

Admin
Hey, if they really didn't want us to win, they'd assign us Jim Wolf!! *ducks and covers* Doesn't make sense... I can understand why some felt Wolf shouldn't ump our games during the season (I agreed even though I think he was fair) -- but why would he do anything against us in the playoffs? He can't help his brother out anymore anyway even if he wanted to.
FutureGM
Yeah, I'm pretty much ok with their choice of umpires, unless they give us Jim Wolf again.

Guest Juanky
It's all good. Eric Gregg was canned in those mass resignations a couple years back anyways.
