Wild Card
Not very long, but my time was limited. After Wild Season, Fish Swim to San Fran By Josh Clinton Have you ever tried to catch a Marlin? It's not an easy task. They never give-up. Just ask a deep-sea fisherman. Better yet, ask the Philadelphia Phillies. It's been a wild ride for the wild card. One that the Marlins have finally, after months of battling, won. They've made it this far with help the help of career years from key players (Mike Lowell and Derrek Lee) and break out rookies (Dontrelle Willis and Miguel Cabrera). They've made it this far, like many teams do, because of the unsung heros. The Chad Fox's and the Rick Helling's, the Mike Mordecai's and the Ramon Castro's. The guys that have gotten it done when they needed to get it done the most. Virtually everyone that has put on a Marlin uniform this season has helped them win, in one way or another (Vladimir Nunez was a great ball boy). There are no individuals on this Marlin team. These Marlins are just that, a team. Nothing but a big fun-loving family, granted, winning usually has that kind of effect on people. Especially after years upon years of losing, suffering, and, oh yea, losing. When team President David Samson predicted 91 wins on opening day, he was called the craziest, most optimistic man on the face of the earth (or at least in South Florida). Look whose got the last laugh now. The Marlins are headed for San Francisco, ready to make their second post-season appearance in franchise history. Does anybody expect Florida to win in the playoffs? Probably not. Samson's team proved him right over the regular season, and proved all of the doubters, the nonbelievers, wrong. Whose to say the Marlins won't do it again, right now, against San Francisco? Whose to say their luck runs dry now? My question is, whose to say it's luck at all? The Marlins have won their way this far. They've earned it. Luck doesn't win games. Talent does. And yet, the doubters remain for Florida. The same doubters that predicted 91 losses instead of wins in March. Those are the same people that, in my mind, have no room to doubt a team that has already proved them wrong. Game one will be difficult. Game two no easier. But the Marlins have battled for victories all season long, and that won't change. There's no pressure for these Marlins to succeed against the Giants, because they aren't even supposed to be playing them in the first place. All they have to do is relax, and go play ball, just like they've done all year. To go from ten games under . 500 at one point in a season to the playoffs takes a lot of heart. To succeed in the playoffs takes a lot of talent. There's no doubt that the Marlins have both.

Guest Juanky
Nice piece, if I wasn't in such a bad mood I would probably do a nice little followup post like usual.
CitanX
Very Very nice! The Difference Between Us and the Giants is one single little fact. WE PLAY AS A TEAM. The Giants rely on their superstar, while we rely on every single player to step it up and contribute. From JP to Agonz From Beckett to Urbina We play as a team. Our whole lineup has had a carreer seasons, and every player has been stepping up. So here we go, with the same mentality that has carried us throughout the Season. We will Prevail as a team, that is the key to winning! Very good Article, very inspiring. Well done!
