Rune
After weeks of working to get back into the race, Rick Santorum's re-election campaign just took a BIG nosedive. Carl Romanelli, the green party canidate who was polling at 5% and despite his claim for government with accountability, was getting his funds from Santorum was taken off the ballot. Romanelli, who's registration drive was ruled to be 9,000 votes short, is now off the PA ballot. This is a huge blow for Santorum, who needed Romanelli to take votes from Casey in more liberal Philadelphia, and Wilkes-Barre. While those voters are certainly not big supporters of Casey's social conservative credentials, they do vote. Now left with a choice between the much hated Santorum, and Casey, it seems clear where they're going. BTW if the Green Party ever wants to be taken seriously, it needs to stop bending over backwards for Republican money.
IrishHarrington
whether the green party candidate was on the ballot or not it wouldnt make any difference Santorum's poll numbers for the last year or so top out at 43 percent (most polls in fact under that ) inspite of the fact Casey is not good at retail politics , not a good debater, the simple fact is Santorum is a conservative republican in a state that has trended to the center left over the last two decades . The laws of political reality were destined to catch up with Rick sooner or later
Flying_Mollusk
Romanelli said he would take it to the state Supreme Court right? Any chance that happens before election day?
Hotcorner
wasn't Ralph Nadar doing that also in the last prez election?
