Any new station resume for french marlins fan ?

Featured Replies

hello,

I live in france and I 'am a big marlins , heat and dolphins fans, I hope for marlins to stay in Miami.

Could other fan resume for me all news about marlins new stadium or relocation at this days (does I must always be afraid about a relocation at this days or a new stadium is a sure bet but only the site must be choose now ? )

thanks everybody to be helpful.

This is my opinion of where things stand.

Relocation is not an option.

The Marlins are looking at two locations in Miami-Dade, downtown Miami and a location in the northwestern outskirts of Miami-Dade. Both locations have funding large gaps. Baseball officials and most people prefer the downtown location. In addition to the funding gaps both locations have major drawbacks. The downtown location lacks sufficient land to put a retractable roof on the stadium. The northwestern location is in the middle of nowhere.

Broward county is also looking into a stadium in Pompano. A racetrack would provide the land and the stadium would be funded through taxes from slot machines. It's questionable whether baseball would allow a stadium on land provided by a racetrack due to gambling concerns and it's also questionable whether slot machine taxes can be used to fund a stadium because when the slots machines were approved by state and local voters the ballots stated that the taxes would be used to fund education, police, roads, firefighters, etc. and not baseball stadiums. If Broward officials try to divert the funds to a stadium I expect lawsuits left and right.

According to the reponses from this site, people at the games I have talked to, and other message boards, by "most" he means most people that live south of where the stadium is right now. But "most", as in the tri county area, either just want one built anywhere, or Hialeah, with some really getting into the Pompano site.

Other than on this site, I don't know a soul who wants a stadium in Hialeah.

I guess a few on this site prefer Hialeah over downtown but if you look at Holly's poll downtown is ahead of Hialeah by a very wide margin.

Check out where those that voted for the downtown site are living. Then actually read the posts. I don't do polls. But I do communicate in the threads. And actually go to ball games and talk to people there. That is a novel idea, I know.

Right now from what I have been reading Hialeah is the front runner. To me it's the logical choice being accesable for all 3 counties instead of trying for one specific market. But the more I hear lame excuses and keep seeing the attendance figures drop the more I am becomming convinced a Pompano site would draw the best. More central for the higher family incomes for the tri county area, which means more disposable income, and closer to the faster growing counties. Makes more sense for the long range growth of the franchise. But for now I am sticking with Hialeah.
