Flash Gordon

Featured Replies

For those that remember the camp film, it is coming out August 8th on DVD...

Now you can crank the Queen Soundtrack in 5.1 Surround Sound...

For those that have seen this movie before, would you consider it just campy or a cult status film?

Despite the lead actor/actress liabilities (Sam J. Jones and Melody Anderson - better known probably from the short-lived TV shows The Highwayman and Manimal respectively), this movie does have a great supporting cast.

Topol - Hans Zarkov: Outstanding as Tevye in Fiddler on the Roof

Max Von Sydow - Ming The Merciless: Famous for Seventh Seal, Exorcist (and my fave Strange Brew)

Timothy Dalton - Prince Barin: Played James Bond years after this, Rocketeer

Brian Blessed - Prince Vultan: Big character actor in Britain, voice of Boss Nass in Star Wars Episode I

... I remember seeing this in the theater, even had the storybook for it. I'll be adding this one to the library. ALthough Flash and Dale Arden are played weakly, I still remember it as a fun movie with an interesting soundtrack.

Where else can the hero introduce himself to an intergalactic emperor as : "Flash Gordon. Quarterback. New York Jets."
