Sources say Wolfowitz to quit as head of World Bank soon

Apparently business as usual in the Bush administration doesn't fly so well out in the rest of the world.

One holdup in the [resignation] talks is U.S. Vice President Dick Cheney, who continues to support Wolfowitz.

yeah that's a real stunner.

Seriously, is there anyone left from this administration with any credibility? Anyone at all?

Yeah, the World Banks is such a classy, well-run organization.

He is getting hammered for something incredible trivial. Hell, Wolfowitz had liberal/democratic ideals at the Bank.

I'm sick of these witch hunts.

He gave his g/f a job and a huge pay raise, using his position in the World Bank and his Bush administration ties.

How is this a witch hunt?

You think it's poorly run therefore what he did is okay? If you think it's poorly run I'd imagine this would bother you.

I'm afraid you won't see an end to these witch hunts until next election. And perhaps not even then. The Gonzalez witch hunt isn't over yet either.

Clearly it goes much deeper than giving his girlfriend a pay raise & promotion... this is very much about other nations sticking it to Bush, no question. Appointing one of the key architects of the Iraq war as president of the World Bank reeked of arrogance.

But regardless, he's made it his policy at the World Bank to shift their focus to stamping out corruption and he gives his girlfriend a giant pay raise and promotion. Hell you can't even do that when you work at a 7/11.

That's a huge part of it. He also basically said that anyone that tried to do anything about it would face retaliation. This administration has a knack for subverting the rules and then mudying the water to make it look like people are nitpicking.

Doesn't really mean anything. The World Bank is crap anyway.

True, but it could only get crappier with a moron like Wolfowitz in charge. It's too bad that they had to negotiate to get him out.
