June 14, 200719 yr Traded for a conditional 2nd rounder (either this year or 2008, Panthers choice). http://tsn.ca/nhl/news_story/?ID=210735&hubname= Clears $1.5 million in salary. Seems like a move by a team gearing up to spend a lot of $$$ on free agents. :mischief2
June 14, 200719 yr why'd we have to send him to Tampa. Oh well, Gratton didn't really WOW me this year.

June 14, 200719 yr So the team with the most cap room gains more cap room, hopefully that means a huge spending spree in the near future.

June 14, 200719 yr Author So the team with the most cap room gains more cap room, hopefully that means a huge spending spree in the near future. how much are we under? Somewhere in the $30-32 million range after the trade and Allen signing. Plus we have 6 RFA's remaining unsigned. Depending on what Horton and Wiess command, we'll probably have somewhere in the low to mid 20's to spend. More than enough for a goalie and top line forward with money left over to re-sign Stumpel and/or Gelinas.
June 14, 200719 yr Good. I liked Gratton a lot as a person and he was a hard nosed player but he just didn't fit into our plans. We have too much depth at center where his best position is and that was apparent over the past few years.
