Well, let me say this.... When Mess was a Marlin, I always cringed when he came into a game too.. But I've always thought he had potential. For some reason, I thought that he would end up being a good major league relief pitcher. He had a great first half in 2006. He just had a crappy second half. This season, he appeared to start off the same way. Some guys don't appear to have the greatest stuff, but they know how to get outs. He has good control (13 walks in 44 innings) and it's worked out well for him so far. Aside from the game vs the Cubs the other day, he has done everything asked of him in a Giants uniform.

Right because one outing is the best barometer for deciding who is the better player.

 

 

No, because Benitez has been total crap this year. For the Giants, he couldn't close a semi important game to save his life. Once he has a few bad outings, the rest will follow. It seems like he loses his confidence very easily. He started the year great for the Giants, but after a bad outing or two, he never recovered. After last night's game, I wouldn't be surprised to see more games like that... And I only brought up last night's game as an example. The dude has an ERA of 5.25 for God's sake... Not the 8th inning guy I want.. I'll take Messenger over Benitez.. People here are still thinking of the Benitez of 2004.. That Mando is long gone.

 

 

 

 

If Im not mistaken Mando's ERA @ the start of last nights game was 4.08

boy, did you guys see the mess armando pitched today?..... yikes.... i felt like that inning was never going to end. thank god we had such a big lead. :boxed
