July 29, 200719 yr OK, I don't have a link and no proof of this, but Bill Butler one of our Charlotte North Carolina officials stopped by one of my stores to get a drink while I was on duty, and we got into a conversation where baseball came up as a topic. He says that North Carolina is building a Semi-Pro baseball stadium for "recreation" but secretly it's going to be offered to the Florida Marlins as a reach for them to move here. Has anyone heard any truth to any of these statements I heard from this respected official? This is very interesting! :mis2

July 29, 200719 yr No secret there, Charlotte wants baseball back from Fort Mill. But it won't be MLB (or the Marlins).
July 29, 200719 yr Author when he said Bill Butler I thought maybe he meant Billy Butler and my heart started racing Ramp can this even be a possibility? And if it is true, how can they keep this quiet? Has north carolina ever been discussed besides Portland? I hope this isn't true because I plan on moving back to Florida next year.
July 29, 200719 yr They've discussed moving there, but nothing more than "hey, wouldn't that be something" talks, as far as I know.
July 29, 200719 yr Story about the Charlotte Knights: http://www.heraldonline.com/109/story/72215.html BTW, MLB said no to Charlotte....Braves (FSN South/SportSouth), Reds (FSN South/SportSouth), Nationals (MASN), & Orioles (MASN) all vigorously claim the area. In fact, MASN just pushed Time Warner Cable (the major MSO in Charlotte) into arbitration so it can get Nats & O's games on TV there.
July 29, 200719 yr there not going to pull a team out of south Florida. I just wish we had a loyal front office. these firesales is ridiculous and so loria wanting to control the team. f*** him

July 29, 200719 yr How can a semi pro stadium be offered to be a major league team? See Sicks Stadium, Jerry Park, or Seals Stadium
July 29, 200719 yr How can a semi pro stadium be offered to be a major league team? See Sicks Stadium, Jerry Park, or Seals Stadium It's the 2000s, not the 60s/70s. The difference between what was considered a major league stadium in the 60s and 70s is nowhere what is considered a ML stadium today.
July 29, 200719 yr The stadium the Knights play in is atrocious. To think that not long ago it was top-of-the-line, MLB-ready. How things have changed.
