September 9, 200719 yr As for best film of the 1990s, I can think of very few films that come close. Saving Private Ryan, American Beauty, Shakespeare in Love, LA Confidential, Titanic, Fargo, Braveheart, Apollo 13, Leaving Las Vegas, Usual Suspects, Pulp Fiction, Shawshank Redemption, Forrest Gump, Schindler's List, The Piano, Silence of the Lambs, Cape Fear, Reservoir Dogs, Heat, Twelve Monkeys, Toy Story... At the risk of sounding like a film snob (I'm not... Oh man! Penguino, you are one of my favorites posters on this board, especially when it comes to movie opinions, but you are (and I mean this is the nicest possible way) the definition of a film snob! Embrace it!
September 9, 200719 yr I definitely agree. As much as I disagree with many of the Best Actor recipients, the Best Actress award is more often 'wrong' in my view. Not just slightly. Glaringly.
November 1, 200719 yr Watched it tonight on a massive, curved screen. The visuals held up nicely (never been my complaint) but the disparity of the style and content was still blatant. I was hoping a big screen viewing would alter my opinion of the film but unfortunately this was not the case. Where did you see it? I always have a private condo theater at my disposal when I'm home, I just might make use of it and watch some good special effects movies.
