Thompson #19 on BA weekly HOT SHEET

Featured Replies

19. Aaron Thompson, lhp, high Class A Jupiter (Marlins)

The 20-year-old's up-and-down season certainly hit a high point on Tuesday when he tossed a seven-inning, three-hit shutout against Brevard County. The lefty, a 2005 first-round pick out of a Houston high school, struck out seven and walked two. Thompson missed most of June with an arm injury and went a combined seven innings in his first two starts back. He tossed a seven-inning two-hitter but then yielded seven runs in 10 innings over two starts before Tuesday's gem.

Tonight he tosses 8ip 5h 0er 1bb 3k AT and Jupiter get the win 2-1

Surprised Volstad isn't there, considering what he's doing in AA and the fact that he was our top prospect and, iirc, decently high up the pre-season top 100 prospect list.

it's a weekly thing... not necessarily based on what # prospect you may have been to start the year

I know.

What I meant was, that since he was high on the top 100 before, that his streak right now isn't a "fluke."

Who said it was a fluke?

Nobody, as far as I know.

What I meant though was that a top 100 prospect that goes on a streak is going (and should) get more attention, then a 1 star prospect because it's likely the 1 star prospect's streak is a fluke.

I'm just surprised Volstad isn't getting attention.

No attention! Volstad is the Golden Child of the Marlins organization. He gets almost all of the attention.

Please......tells us what you really mean.

I think the last line in my last post summed it up.

Yeah it was pretty simple. Those hot sheets, more often than not, take teams top prospects who are dominating for the week because those are the players they already looking at, so its easier to notice. No conspiracy theories, just slightly surprised I would assume. Not surprised in a "WHAT THE HELL ARE THEY THINKING" kind of way, but more like a "hmmmm, interesting that Volstad didnt make it, maybe next week if his success continues" kinda thing. Thats my (correct) guess
