Can someone please find me the stats on how many blown saves we have against the washington nationals both at home and at RFK over the last 3 years....It seems like everytime we go there we blow at least one save.

2007 - 3 Saves / 5 Save opportunities

2006 - 9 saves / 16 Save opportunities (Note: Borowski was 8 for 9, the rest of our bullpen sucked)

2005 - 3 saves / 4 Save opportunities

I'd assume, though, that those constitute leads lost in the 7th and 8th as well as the 9th, not just the 9th, considering that there were 16 opportunities in 2006.

You're absolutely right. I was pulling these stats off of mlb.com and jumped the gun in assuming Save Opportunities - Saves = Blown Saves. Further proof why I hate saves as a stat and the insane conditions that go along with classifying something as a save opportunity.

It just seems to me that the Marlins don't play well at RFK in general. I don't have any numbers to back me up but from what I remember the only series I really ever remember them sweeping recently was the 2 game set in early 2006.

 

2005 is too long ago to remember. I remember Perisho getting rocked there a couple of times (worse than usual).

My experience has been the exact opposite. Everytime I went to see the Marlins at RFK until game 3 this season we won in a blowout (Dontrelle's 20th win in 05 was at RFK, JJ's first start in 06, through the start of this season where we were killing them in the first two games before Julio gave up our first loss this year...
