October 27, 200322 yr As much crap as he talked, he only made 3,450,000 this year. I'm sure we could get him cheaper than Castillo, would you guys wants him? I just saw his numbers and in 587 AB's he only struck out 54 times, can we afford his a**?
October 27, 200322 yr I'm not sure Castillo gets more than Walker on the market anymore, not after the looked so bad on such a big stage. But, if he were cheaper, and we did lose Luis, I'd take him.
October 27, 200322 yr Author Well if he played good for almost 162 games and did his part, teams would want him and maybe it was just the pressure on Louie. Walker was huge for Boston and would be a nice number two hitter.
October 27, 200322 yr I honestly would pass. He is not a good defensive 2nd baseman and that will definately ruin some chemistry up the middle.
October 27, 200322 yr Author I'm just saying, if we couldn't get Louie back, would you guys take him? I love Castillo and PRAY we keep him.
October 27, 200322 yr we need a 2nd basemen that can run and hit for avg. not a mediocre underperforming waste of salary 2nd basemen.
October 27, 200322 yr Author we need a 2nd basemen that can run and hit for avg. not a mediocre underperforming waste of salary 2nd basemen. There aren't many 2B like that right now. I can't think of any. Can you name three minus Louie?
October 27, 200322 yr i can but i dont feel like it.. there are some that will be available for trade though
October 27, 200322 yr Author Really, there are none besides Louie. Some can run, but the averges are low. And some can hit, but not steal bases.
October 27, 200322 yr there's Luis Castillo, Todd Walker, Roberto Alomar, and Grudzy Ill take any of them
October 27, 200322 yr alfonso soriano will be available and you know them yanks! when they want somebody out, they wont want the jackpot in return. soriano will be pretty cheap too.
October 27, 200322 yr Author I'm glad we can finally agree on something, Ramp. But Alomar is old and Grudzy is... consistently inconsistent.
October 27, 200322 yr Ive been thinking about this for awhile and it probably isnt far but assuming Castillo was signed.... a Soriano for Penny, Castillo, someone else wouldnt be too shabby would it?
October 27, 200322 yr Author I'd do that. We need more power and out hitting coaches would set Soriano straight. He would know that every at bat doesn't feel like 500 pounds and he could have fun and relax. Not that we don't need Penny, but with AJ back, anyone of our starters (Besides JB) can be trade bait.
October 27, 200322 yr i think pavano and bump or something can get it done. when yanks ship out you dont gotta give to much.
October 27, 200322 yr our core right now is burnett, beckett, penny. you dont trade any of those guys. if soriano is traded, it wont be for as much as you think.
October 27, 200322 yr Author Castillo, Bump, Pavano for Soriano... I like that. Soriano isn't as bad as people think.
October 27, 200322 yr You guys are beyond nuts... Soriano is coming off a year where he hit 38 HR, 91 RBI and 36 SB...yes, he struggled horribly in the playoffs, but he's still only 25 years old and the best 2B in the league bar none. The Yankees won't deal Soriano, and if they did they'd get a hell of alot more than the garbage being tossed around in this thread. Pavano and Bump for Alfonso Soriano? :lol
October 27, 200322 yr Jose Vidro might be available through trade. Though Derrek Lee will likely be our main trade bait, and the Expos wouldn't take his contract.
October 27, 200322 yr Jose Vidro might be available through trade. Though Derrek Lee will likely be our main trade bait, and the Expos wouldn't take his contract. Maybe we could just give them Ramon Castro for Jose Vidro. I mean how often does a future hall-of-fame catcher come along? [/sarcasm]
October 27, 200322 yr MLB's management of the club has been so bad that they'd give us Vidro for the right to schedule two dozen games at Joe Robbie/Pro Player. No, seriously hear me out. It helps MLB continue to promote the Expos' lack of revenue and the plight of small market teams, and the need why there needs to be a 32 round playoff (With only Washington or Portland getting an expansion team, so the other can still be used to scam cities and states out of nearly full publically funded ballparks) and more empty revenue sharing (which only hurts teams that don't have their own associate stadium concessions companies and large media contracts), and maybe an outfield moat with alligators that swallow the Cubs' outfielders. :mischief
October 27, 200322 yr Check the Sun Sentinel "payroll" article - 2 scenarios have Lowell going to the Yankees (LOL) and possibly Lee hitting the road too, just to keep Luis. They feel we should try to keep the middle infield together for the double-play combo of Luis - A Gon. It will be interesting to see who goes and who stays!
October 27, 200322 yr our core right now is burnett, beckett, penny. you dont trade any of those guys. if soriano is traded, it wont be for as much as you think. Penny is not in the core
October 27, 200322 yr Author If we let Lowell and Lee walk just to keep Louie, we would take away 63 home runs and almost 200 RBI's. That would be plenty stupid!
