Hanley doesn't worry about groundballs. All he has to do is stare the baseball down and it immediately begins to slow down, rolls meekly to him, and apologizes to Hanley for bothering him.

:lol :lol :lol :lol :lol

He's the Chuck Norris of baseball.

Uggla is the Right Handed Chase Utley, which ultimately makes him a bit less valuable, but we are not likely to do better at 2b any time soon. The man is the best player at 2B this team has ever had.

Best? That's argueable..

Did everybody forget about Luis Castillo?

In 2002 he had a 35-game hitting streak

An NL All-Star in 2002,2003,and 2005

NL Gold Glover in 2003,2004,and 2005

lead the league in groundball percentage in

2002,2004,and 2005

and he was with the Marlins when they won

both of their titles (albeit, injured in 1997)

...and that's JUST for the Marlins

May want to double check that fact. I believe he was sent down in '97 because of the lack of bat (not an injury) and we made a trade to bring Counsel in from Colorado. He did eventually beat Craig out for the starting job ('99??) and that sent Craig into a tantrum and demanded to be traded. Which worked out great for both sides. Castillo went on to become the best 2B we have ever had, IMO, and Craig went to the Dodgers and then the D'Backs who sent him down to learn to play other positions. It lengthened his career. And got him another ring.

That's all from memory. But go ahead and check it out.

Do you guys notice how sometimes he is searching for the ball in his glove. Drives me nuts. :mis2

That's where the over-sized glove comes in...

It's obviously his preference to use "that" glove. I wonder if anyone has asked him to maybe try a smaller glove?

I'm sure Tommy Hutton has mentioned it to him but he just won't listen.

I doubt it. It's not Tommy's place to question that. He may have asked Fredi or one of the other coaches about it tho. And I believe Tommy said a scout from another team pointed it out to him. It is an interesting theory and one that I believe has some credence behind it. I never noticed it until Tommy said something one time.
