July 27, 200818 yr This is what happens when there are a lot of fans, 90 degree 100% humidity weather with a 60% chance of rain every day. cry me a river, real fans will go.....I don't understand how having high TV ratings helps anything, lets put 20,000 seats in the new stadium and we'll have sellouts and everyone else can stay home and watch on TV.... how many fish games are rained out, not that many, its prpbably rained less in the last few years than I remember in the past..... these are excuses and ALL they are, the fans her won't go and probably won't go to the new place either.....at least not in big enough numbers to make a difference IMO And yet in other threads you say that PBC and Broward have had their chance and now that the new pond is going to be in South Dade it will make a huge difference. Pick a stance and stick by it. not me, I never said that.......
July 27, 200818 yr another reason people dont go to the games is that the prices suck balls 10$ parking 4$ water 5 -7$ Hotdogs 10$ Chicken with chips(not fries) 8$ For Burgers Then the Merchandise is expensive as hell But personally i save up to go to marlins games with friends and we usually win At least the TV Ratings are good shwoing either hat people like to watch marlins baseball or are to lazy or reatrded to change the channel :gofish :gofisht :gofishb I agree about the prices but if thats the excuse, the prices are not going to be any lower in the new place, parking and tix are sure to be a lot higher I think.......
July 27, 200818 yr Yeah, we've always spanked in the TV ratings. Of course THAT won't ever make it into all of the multiple articles that are written to trash the Marlins fans. You do understand they never talk about the other teams' TV ratings either. They only talk about actual attendance figures. Which is the way it should be. Teams get ZERO $$ from the cost of your TV, DirecTV or cable price, your munchies and drinks from the fridge, etc... I could care in the least about our TV ratings. I care that I am outnumbered and out yelled by fans of opposing teams at my home stadium on a routine basis. You all want to pat yourselves on the back? Just keep in mind our season ticket holders number a whopping 5,000 and we are pulling a little over 15,000 to games. Of that 10,000 differential it would be a good guess (and a low one) to say 7500 of them are for the other team. Wonder how that number relates to fans of the other teams watching the Marlins play them on local feeds? The problem is that people don't just talk about our lack of attendance like it is just fans not showing up, they (especially when it is someone unfamiliar with the team) talk about it as if the Marlins just have no fans, period. THAT is what pisses me off, and the fact that we do so well on TV just goes to show that it is untrue. I agree but if there was no stadium deal and MLB had to decide to move the team, they will base that on fannies in the seats and NOT on TV ratings.....people have got to go.....
July 27, 200818 yr We are suppossed to be going to Tuesday's game vs. the muts but I'm nervousssssss. tell her ur sick or lost the tickects and take me takin a 12 year old looks kinda bad :mischief It could look like she is taking her little brother. :wacko yea but it deppends how tall she is im 5'9 if shes short i could look like her friend Haha, no I'm 5' 2" people would probably think you are my boyfriend and I would have to go to jail because I am 24 lol

I am a REAL fan, and you can say whatever you want but the weather DOES make a difference when I am driving from WPB, paying tolls and gas to get down there and have the game rained out. Not everyone can wait around for an hour + rain delay, especially during weeknight games, so there have been many times when it looked like rain and we decided against going. I still make it to a decent amount of games, but I would go to a lot more if the elements weren't an issue. Don't worry, you will see the difference when we get our new retractable-roof stadium. Cody's walk off against the Reds had a little bit over an hour rain delay! (I was getting nervous) Then they played and won!

Bob, you are absolutely right about the attendance although you are either exaggerating the number of the other team's fans or you just happen to be sitting among all of them. I want to see more fans in the seats as much as you do but the TV ratings are significant because if no one was watching it would be legitimate to say the team has no fans. The team does have fans but for whatever reasons (which have been discussed here ad nauseam) most of them don't go to Dolphin Stadium. I very much doubt all those people watching are fans of the other teams. You have every right not to "care in the least" about TV ratings but they do matter. Every point you make is legitimate. I just get tired of hearing people patting themselves on the back for the huge TV ratings and then complain constantly when ever ESPN or any other station mentions the low attendance numbers that we have had for years. I would disagree with your terminology tho. There is a huge difference between "reasons" and "excuses." The things I have heard over the years are simply poor excuses why fans don't show up to the games. Let me give you my own opinion. Dolphins Stadium Sucks! (1st of all naming it Dolphins stadium and having a baseball team play there, a team better than its football team is like slapping the Marlins in the face, I know the history, blah blah blah.) Not very pleasing to the eye, way too big. (as a football field) Nothing to do, other than watch the game. Nothing for entertainment around the stadium. (if a rain delay does occur, or for kids.)
