I openly admit to following nobody Willie Glen. I haven't had a chance to check why he was pulled after three innings, but after scoring two in the first off him, he struck out two that inning, struck out two the next inning, and struck out two in the third.

Just wondering...what is it going to take to call Dallas McPherson up?

I understand he K's a lot...but you know who also K's a lot? Ryan Howard.

 

K's are overrated, when you're hitting for such power.

K's are also overrated, when you have a .401 .OBP (our current 1B can't even manage to get his .OBP to .300!)

Mcpherson is doing exactly what jacobs would do in AAA.... fact is, mcpherson wouldn't make our team any better if he got called up. he'd k a lot more than he is currently doing against AAA pitching and he'd be a defensive liability. don't we have enough of that already? in an effort to actually help our team defensively, as we have plenty of firepower throughout the lineup already... I'd try starting amezaga at 3rd and cantu at first for a few games.... but, since i know we need that big bat in the lineup (im talking about jacobs) we will continue running his sub 300 OBP and bad defense out there.

Why would you say that?

I wouldn't doubt Jacobs hitting 35 HR's in the PCL (Jake does have power).

 

But I think a .401 .OBP speaks for itself, especially when your 1B (Jacobs) is so impatient. I don't think Jake would ever post a .400+ .OBP...at least not with his approach.

 

Also, I doubt McPherson would be good, defensively...you're right. But would he be the WORST at his position...BY FAR? Have you seen the #'s? Seriously, it's rather embarrassing for Jacobs, defensively. I mean, you can say RZR is somewhat flawed (all defensive stats, basically are, to a point)...but check out the gap between last (Jacobs) and 2nd to last:

And, btw...second to last (Conor Jackson) despite the #'s saying he's actually a lot better than Jacobs...he's actually been moved to LF. That's how sad our defensive situation is at 1B, when Jake plays.

The reason I'm saying Jake would be doing the same thing as McPherson is because:

 

McPherson, at the Major League level, posted sub 300 OBP's in the 3 yrs he played there.... warranting a "career" OBP (294) .23 points LOWER than Jacobs' career OBP (317).

 

So, you can say you think McPherson has managed to turn it around, in an extremely hitters biased league, and that is fine. But, their stats say otherwise.

 

To bring it all around, if Jake has a better OBP facing major league pitching than Dallas Mac... you could assume he'd be putting up similar, or better OBP #'s than Mac in the PCL, hence why I said it.

 

 

Now, I want Jake off the team but only because of his defense. I like his bat. But his defense absolutely blows.
