July 27, 200818 yr Here's some miscellaneous stuff that doesn't seem to fit anywhere without taking some thread a place it doesn't need to go... If you're looking to rearrange the roster as well as the starting lineup for a run at Hanley's dream do you send Willingham to the bench until he learns to hit again? What happens if Rick Vanden Hurk has a breakthrough start tomorrow? And Andrew Miller finishes his rehab healthy and with a renewed sense of purpose? When is too much starting pitching really too much starting pitching? If you can't trade Jacobs, do you bench him in favor of bringing up McPherson (who's playing first base tonight, going 1-3 with a two-out two run double) in hopes you can move Jake through waivers in August? Speaking of McPherson, would the Marlins dare make a trade for Nelson Cruz (their comments regarding each other can be found in the Minor League Forum under the recent "Dallas McPherson is Back" thread) who Gerald Laird, rehabbing in Oklahoma called Cruz "..the best hitter I've ever seen at Triple-A...He's the Babe Ruth of the Pacific Coast League. He's loose, having fun and having great at-bats. I saw a different guy down there than I'd seen up here." From the same article..." Cruz, who has spent the entire season at Triple-A Oklahoma, entered Saturday's game with nine homers and 13 RBIs in his last eight games. He was hitting .382 (13-for-34) in the stretch. He began Saturday tied with Albuquerque's Dallas McPherson for the minor league lead in homers with 35." http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/dw...te.386e1db.html (As I like to point out this summer, he plays in one of the east divisions in the PCL (see Oklahoma's schedule) which means lots of game in the flatlands of Americas not against the mile-high Colorado Skysox and the Salt Lake Bees.) Ballsy move, but why not? It's soooo Admin. You say chicks love the long ball well why not bring up AAA's version of the "Bash Brothers" this week and see if we can hit 300 homeruns this season? Is Cody Ross cooling off over the last ten games, or just catching his breath? If it's the former do you throw him to the wolves and bring in a real centerfielder (which is not to bash Ross who has been great out there this summer and deserves more respect than that phrasing suggests)? As we've seen, there's nothing worse than a cold Cody Ross unless it's a three game old hot dog being peddled around Dolphin Stadium like it was in the Tour de France. How much change are you willing to endure to the roster in an effort to win a playoff berth? What if you really needed a scorecard to know who's on first? Do you think the Marlins would take steroid-user Paul LoDuca back as an off-the-bench only situational pinch-hitter ala Lenny Harris in 2003? Would LoDuca be willing to return in that role in exchange for his last chance at a ring? If Hendrickson goes to make room for Arthur Rhodes or fillintheblank in the next five days because everyone and their brother says the Marlins are looking to beef up their bullpen, who goes to make room for Anibal Sanchez (see Vanden Hurk/Miller question above) if he gets one more rehab start in Carolina and comes back the first week in August? How does it feel going to bed tonight knowing we're a game back in the NL East where pundits from Bayonne to San Francisco Bay laughed at that $22 million team they picked to be the worst in baseball? Did they all do us a huge favor by bringing the team together to shove it up their collective a****?
July 27, 200818 yr Honestly, I want to keep sanchez, we have too much pitching, ross is a CF, but wont be a top 10 and we need a catcher with experiance. Plus Loduca is a LF, 1b and C so why not bring him in a helms liek role. Mchpearson needs to be in MIAMI Jacobs needs to be in the AL (cleveland maybe) Cruz can hit in the PCL, but IDk about the NL and We need a C, CF (Somewhat) and a 1b. I want a tex/pudge union in South Fla. Aint gonna happen tho.
July 27, 200818 yr A lot of good questions wont lie... I want Dallas up in the Majors, I want to trade Jake, I want VandenHURK to do great, I want Miller to do great, I want Anibal to do better than the both of them (not saying I dont want them to do great as well... buuut.. Anibal has been through a lot and he is the kind of guy that can get a team going... something like that happens and it can really turn things in a different direction) I would rather have Pudge over LoDuca I would not trade Anibal I want to win with this team... I love this team... I might like this team more than I have liked a Marlins team.. ... yea I went there..
