Woo! 2nd straight Bowl for the FAU Owls. This bid was a shock. We started the season 1-5, had a ton of injuries, made a bunch of mental errors, but battled back and went 5-1 down the stretch to reach eligibility. Now we got lucky that things broke right for us to get invited to the Motor City Bowl. The day after Christmas in Detroit isn't exactly a vacation destination...but i'll take it!

holy sh*t nice work, Tebow should get an invite to New York, but will be handing the trophy to Bradford sadly.

But I can tell you the Gators will win it all this year, no doubt.

TCU, Boise, TTU all got screwed. I can't believe Ohio State got another major bowl bid.

I can understand Boise and TTU, but how did TCU get screwed?

Ohio State only got the bid because they bring in the dollars. They seem to be over rated every year.

Ohio State plays in a BCS conference, and only lossed to two top 10 teams. TTU couldn't go because the Big 12 already had two teams going to BCS games, which is the max for any conference, and Boise State didn't go because they played ina conference where any mid-level BCS team could go undefeated. OSU deserved it, plain and simple.

Held Oklahoma to 35 points lowest all season.... a loss but not a bad loss, lost to Utah at Utah by 3. Should of won, but oh well and they get a Boise State bowl the 6th game in. The deserve a new years day bowl with their season.

Screw all the games on NFL Network, of course i can't watch them. Also, screw the NFL Network themselves

Ohio State has gotten blown out the last two years in BCS games.. They will get blown out again this year and still get a BCS bid next year.

My hawks are going to put an absolute thrashing on the gamecocks.. Could be the only big ten team to put a W this bowl season and its going to be a beatdown.

They only allowed Oklahoma to score 35...but they only put up 10 points against a relatively weak OU defense (the least amount of points Oklahoma allowed all season vs FBS opponents.)

It is hard enough to determine if an undefeated team from a non-BCS conference should play in a BCS bowl game, but the one's who already have a loss definitely shouldn't be playing in one.

Even though that seems fair, you can't make a decision for this year based on last years result.

not a BCS game for TCU, but they should be playing a bowl game closer towards new years and with a bigger payday. I mean BSU vs TCU is a great game for non-BCS schools, I just think they are both playing way too early.

Time doesn't necessarily have to do with the quality of the bowl game. Some of the worst bowl games are played just a couple days before the NC game. Besides, they're going to play an undefeated team that is ranked in the top 10.

Date, besides the GMAC and International bowl, have a lot to do with payout. The closer towards new years the better the payout is.

Again, not necessarily. There's the example I just gave you, the Papajohns.com Bowl being later than the Champs Sports Bowl, the Armed Forces Bowl somehow being on New Years Eve, etc. The amount of money each team receives basically depends on the conferences involved, not the date.

no I know, but those are the exceptions as a general rule the later in the better the bowl. The problem too for TCU is that there are very few at-large bowl births outside of the BCS that pay any good money. MWC #2 goes to Poinsettia so I guess they can keep affiliation and it will be a nice draw which will help.

  • 2 weeks later...

First game up in the bowl season.

Navy vs. Wake Forest, Saturday morning.
