John Raynor

How's John Raynor looking? What are his chances of being the 4th OF?

I would say a near 100% lock for 2010. Only comes up in 2009 for injuries or September callup. Not being on the 40 man roster hurts him, as the Marlins are going to want to try out Carroll and Jai Miller this year.

Marlins bench is going to be Amezaga, Helms, McPherson (Or Gaby/Gibbons if McPherson wins a starting spot), Rabelo/C, and the last spot is up for argument if they carry a 2nd middle infielder or just take 'top bat.' I suspect they go with a 2nd middle infielder, so I think it's an Andino v Bonifacio battle. If they go top bat, I still don't see it being Raynor regardless, as they'll probably carry Gibbons or Carroll for more of a left handed slugging or superior outfield defense option.

1 more year and he can fight for right field with Scott Cousins and Bryan Petersen.

Not that I'm a big fan of Raynor nor a big detractor of Miller & Carroll, but neither of the last two are players that you manipulate the 40 man roster around. If the team really felt like Raynor or anyone else was the guy for the backup OF job, then waiving either guy is not gonna to set our franchise back.

I really believe that they want to send Raynor down to open the season but that he will be an early callup, it seems they want him playing everyday. Raynor may be in New Orleans for a bit

True, but they have multiple waves from Delgado/Kroenke/Meyer/Andino/Cruz coming, so in theory they could just put him on there and bypass Jai/Carroll if need be. Still, I see him behind them on the callup chart. Carroll and Jai both have a little bit of upside. It wouldn't be a bad idea to see if they can hack a few hits in the bigs and hope they aren't AAAA players.

And I agree with Eddie. Everyday for Raynor is the way to go to let him keep hitting and developing. Hopefully those K's come down.

I am glad he is still with the parent club this late in ST he is showing the whole package, he is even throwing out people from the outfield (I told you his arm was not that week) I don't see him on the 25 not just yet but he is the 1st outfielder to be called when needed. John Raynor has shown alot already but that just may be the tip of the iceberg

During one of the pre-Spring Training practices he was being berated by Bo Porter in front of about 20 fans and 11 outfields (including Hermida, Ross, Maybin) for coming to practice and not bringing his fielding glove.

It was pretty crazy to see him being called out in front of everyone including the fans.

I was about 5 feet from where his HR landed yesterday in Lakeland, so he went up a couple notches in my book.
