He's younger, has way better stuff, and with the exception of the occasional big inning, Hawkins is IMO just a flat out better pitcher.

When I say occasional big inning, I really mean very rarely.

November 7, 200322 yr Wasn't that as a set up man though? I think it is worth the risk. Yes there were for the most part as a set-up man, but those are still very good numbers. He has overpowering stuff, can mix in the off speed stuff, he definitely has the stuff to be a closer. For sure worth the risk, and note I edited my last post to include the link for Hawkins' career numbers.
November 7, 200322 yr 5.05 Career ERA is icky But he has performed well 3 out of the last 4 years, and been flat out dominant in the set up role last two seasons. I think it is a head game thing.

His career ERA will keep his market value down, but the guy has been simply filthy the last 2 years. He will be a huge steal for whoever signs him.
