I am ticked off at the Rockies for even considering trading their BEST player :banghead WTF are they thinking? If they're going to dump someone for salary reasons, let it be Admin Walker, even though I like LW too. I will really hope Dan O'Dowd will burn in hell for this decision!

omg what are you saying? What are you saying? Can you look up these numbers before you open your mouth? He hits over 300 both home and away. Plus all his homers in Coors would turn into a doubles in a place like, lets say, JRS. So the average isn't affected and the RBI total stays relatively the same if only dropping 10 or so.

.909 OPS, .294 BA, 170 HR (24/ season), 574 RBIs (82/ season) , 18 SBs (3/ season)

so you could clearly see that he'd be a good player, but definitely not top tier.

i didn't believe any of those stats, so i looked them up

 

his 3-year 2000-2002 split shows that:

HOME: .385 BA, 68 HR, .478 OBP, 221 RBI, 11 SB, .727 SLG, 1.205 OPS

AWAY: .297 BA, 44 HR, .401 OBP, 151 RBI, 1 SB, .534 SLG, .935 OPS

how on earth could you figure that? pro player is a pitcher's park, NOT a hitter's park! if anything, his average should be LOWER than .297 at pro player. you point out that pro player has some gaps, but you forget that helton is a power hitter, NOT a gap hitter. power hitters don't benefit as someone like juan pierre would from a move to pro player from coors.

i was wondering the exact same thing!! although from looking at his 3-year split, he clearly steals more at home than on the road. his higher OBP (and higher team offensive production) at home explains only a little bit of that, but there has to be a reason why he steals so much more at home.

 

in any case, i will have to agree with giants on this one. i didn't even realize just HOW overrated he was until i looked at the splits. sure, he's still great.... but it's laughable to suggest that this guy could come close to matching his numbers in a stadium like pro player. hell, it's laughable to even think that he'd hit "well over .300" here.

 

definitely not worth it.. for the marlins, at least.
