May 13, 200917 yr and if we had an owner that would've been willing to spend a few million dollars, we would have a rotation of Beckett, Burnett, Dempster, Johnson, and Nolasco. Either way if our owner wasn't as cheap we could be better, period. And if we still had Beckett, we would not have Hanley.... there's always going to be two sides to every story. But as it has been said before, pitching and defense wins championships, and I would trade Hanley for a rotation of Beckett, Burnett, Johnson, Dempster and Nolasco. Name one team besides the Yankees that could afford to have a rotation like that. Red Sox?

Not many teams would be able to afford a rotation like that. ok, let's for the sakes of it say Volstad replaces Burnett, still one hell of a team Beckett salary $10 million, Jonhson, $1.4 million, Volstad $400,000 Dempster $7 million Nolasco $2.4 million so overall, $26.4 million overall for the starting rotation. Yes high for this team, but an extremely small number for the majority of teams out there and would love to trade off that kind of money for that rotation.

The majority of the teams in the MLB have a larger fan base so they can afford to have a pitching staff that costs nearly $30 million. The Marlins might be closer to that number when the new stadium opens up, but that won't be for at least a few more years.
May 13, 200917 yr lol at the thought of us keeping Dempster for the 9 years he was awful as a starter prior to last. We'd be really dumb if we still had Ryan Dempster on the roster.
