BJ Upton

It's a slump it happens to everybody.

Another Player is Jacoby Ellsbury who started the season batting .160 with an OBP in the .200 area after the 1st two weeks but he has picked it up and raised it to .295 since with an OBP of .327

What could be going on with him? After having a GREAT postseason he seems to have forgotten how to hit..

.160 0 HR 5 2B 3 RBI 19 R 7 SB

Meanwhile his brother Justin is hitting .295, 7 HR, 18 RBI, 20 R, 3 SB. Not sure how many doubles.

Does anyone know which of the Upton's is projected to do the best long term?

I was always under the impression that they were two different types of players. Really, BJ gives you some positional flexibility (although he isn't too great at those other positions) and good-great OBP skills, whereas Justin is more of a slugger.

Could be wrong...

Both were number 1 overall picks right?

I think Justin is supposed to be the better of the two. But they have such differnt body types for brothers. Justin is jacked while BJ is skinny. Besides Jstin having more pop then BJ i think they're similar 5 tool guys.

Justin is a 3/4/5 spot guy who has monster power 30+ HR's will slug and OPS high and has the potetial to bat .290 to .300 with 20+ steals, he is a pretty good defender who can cover his ground and has a strong arm typical Corner OFer

B.J. Is a speedster mostly gap to gap hitter but has pretty decent power aswell 15 + HR should steal 40 to 50 bases OBP at .300+ and BA .300+ he is also a great defender but has a tendancy to play very shalow at times and is unable to get some well hit balls. Most likely CF and used to play SS/2B

Justin is suppose to be the better of two though.

If he's got an BA over .300, an OBP at .300 is sh*tty. He's more of a .380 OBP guy.

They'll be very close, I think. Justin will get more love because home runs are sexy, but I'd be very surprise if they weren't very close in value for the majority of their careers.

Bj's power is being underplayed here too. He could reach 30.

Yeah he hit 24 in 07. Hes got a lightning fast bat.

Justin will hit more homeruns so he'll get more attention but i'd take BJ ahead of him any time because of his ability to do other things like steal bases, play good defense, and put up his share of long balls

And get on-base.

I'm not convinced about BJ Upton just because he is incredibly inconsistent with the bat. The guy has had like 3-4 average or worse years and one good one but somehow that makes him a star?

This is only his 3rd full season.

And the last two were .273/.383/.401, which I would call above average especially for a 23-year-old and .300./386/.508, which I would call ridiculously good for a 22-year-old.

That's what makes him a star.
