When the Marlins score 4 or fewer runs....

Featured Replies

At least Cody and Uggla are beginning to hit and although they're still underperforming their OPSes are no longer embarrassing but unfortunately Paulino has one hit the entire month.

Last night was a perfect example of how inconsistent our hitting is and how often it comes up short in big spots....

pathetic

Yes, last night was the perfect example. Damn them only scoring 17 runs yesterday. Damn them only hitting .333 with RISP in game 2.

Dude. Pitching. Last night was a perfect example of how, even when you score 7-9 runs, it's really really hard to win a game when you give up 11. Out pitching blew the game 4 times.

Yes, last night was the perfect example that our hitting is way too inconsistent.

The pitching gave up the lead but when a game (any game) gets into extra innings, there are a couple of things that are indisputable:

1) The game is tied (no matter the score)

2) The home team has the advantage in getting to bat in the bottom of the inning.

In the 11th inning, 1st and 3rd and nobody out... and they can't bring Hanley home from 3rd... that is pathetic. The game should of never gotten to the 13th. Besides, what did you expect from a Hayden Penn start? That we would allow less than 5 runs? especially with the way this bullpen has been taxed?

The game was tied and the Marlins had a beautiful opportunity to win it with a sac fly (twice over) and they blew it ... big time.... more than the pitching blew it

Like I said, yes. It sucks. (Maybe I said that last night), but noone comes through 100%. Most don't come through more than 25%, that's baseball. Our team came through 33%.

But no. They didn't blow it more than the pitching did. Not by a long shot. It's not fair to make a team score 8-9-or 12 runs just to win a game.

so its ok for the offense to fold when the other team has tied the game (no matter the score) ?

No, it's OK to not come up 100% of the time. No one does. No team does. EVER. That how baseball has been for over a hundred years. The fact that you are arguing this after we scored 9 runs, after we hit .333 with RISP, is almost comical.

It's NOT OK for the team to constantly be playing in a tie game, no matter how many runs they score. Yesterday, the lead was lost 3 times. It's sh*tty that no matter how many runs we put up, we give up the lead. You yourself constantly sayaing "CAN WE EVER HOLD A LEAD??". How is that the offense's fault?

in a tie game, especially a tie game in extra inning at home, only the offense can win the game and only the pitcher(s) can lose it.

after the game has been tied, the offense couldn't win the game, therefore the pitching gets blamed for the loss... I understand how that works.

1st and 3rd, no outs and we don't score... thats sad

But we scored 9 runs. Nueve. We constantly had to fight just to tie the game after leading it by 4 runs. We hit .333 with RISP. Literally any team would take that. You're getting on the entire offense because of what 3 players did in 1 inning in a game where they scored NINE RUNS.

Now, TODAY'S game is more indicative of your argument, and that's why I say it's both the offense and the pitching.
