Posted May 29, 200915 yr Whilst updating my Maybin sig I notice we have Dave Matranga at the Zephyrs. He is hitting .350 in 28 games (OBP .487 OPS 1.070). A little research finds him in the bigs in 2003 with the Astros and 2005 with the Angels. He hit a homer in his first MBL AB, but has been given little opportunity since (only six PAs). He plays SS and 2B. Worth a pop whilst Hanley is out and Boni continues with his hapless-batter/fielder impressions? The FO seems content to give every pitcher within the organisation a go, while not give him a shot instead of calling up Brett Carroll every ten days?
May 29, 200915 yr Teams fill-out their minor league rosters with older players that are not prospects and that play for cheap. That's probably how we view this Matranga guy so he wont get a shot.
May 29, 200915 yr As said above every season there's a Dave Matranga, a guy who is a fall back insurance policy, who because the baseball gods decided to bestow one last moment of glory on him, has a great season. You never know, he might get a shot, it's happened before, but there's a 99.9% chance he starts and finishes his year in NOLA.
May 29, 200915 yr more or less. andy gonzo is on the 40 man not dan therefore you wont see him at all.

May 29, 200915 yr Jason Wood was more or less a Dave Matranga. Nothing more than a minor league journeyman.
