As we all know, our beloved fish sit atop the major leagues in that oh so wonderful stat of strikeouts. Now, I was just looking over some sortable team stats, and I noticed something that I found amusing and, from my perspective (mainly because I wasn't expecting it or actively counting them) but we also lead the major leagues in...well, strikeouts.

As in, our pitchers lead the league, currently with 501 strikeouts.

It's nice to see that we can almost match our batters futility with our opponent's batters, and as our starters begin to settle in and take control as they have done these past few weeks, I see a lot of hope for this season that just a few weeks ago was starting to seem to fade away.

I noticed this too and heard some one on 790 mention it. It's funny because you know if a team like the mets or red sox pitchers lead the league in K's the media would be all over it.

I feel like we've cut down on the K's on offense the last few games too, especially against some pitchers who are known to have nasty stuff.

Coghlan's a step in the right direction here. It should improve even more by either EB getting better and making contact or replacing him with Gaby Sanchez/Gload/Helms more often. I wouldn't argue with the K's for Hanley, Uggla, or Ross, though, since their overall production has been good [historically, and improving this year].

Great signs both ways, our pitching racking up Ks has been a constant and terriffic sign, but the real eye opener is our hitters cutting down on Ks, and by ALOT.

June overall Ks are down almost 50%, and especially the last 7 games. Thats huge, and something to keep an eye on. We've actually been very patient at the plate!
