July 29, 200917 yr Last season when the four Marlins players hit 25 or more home runs, it made headlines everywhere. This season, Cantu & Uggla's HR totals are way down and although home runs are not everything, it sure was great knowing that in 2008 we could always rely on it when things went wrong. Is there a possibility that no Marlins player reaches 30 or more home runs in 2009? Uggla's got 17 but if he gets traded that leaves Hanley with just 15. It just seems odd to see the entire team's power numbers drop so dramatically from one year to the other. Last season we hit over 200 HR's, this year in over 100 games we are on 94.
July 29, 200917 yr Right now Danny's on pace to hit 28 and Hanley's on pace to hit 24. As you mentioned Cantu's homers are way down and he's only on pace to hit 16. Cody, btw is on pace to hit 23. I also think Hanley will hit a little higher than what he is on pace for because of the games he missed. Right now his pace is only projected to play in 50 of the 62 games left, which is unlikely. If Hanley plays 54 of the next 62, he'll be on pace to hit 25. I bet he'll play more than that. Also, I don't think Danny gets traded regardless until the offseason. And yeah, that power drop happens when you trade guys like Jake and Hammer for Boni and Coghlan in your lineup.
July 29, 200917 yr I'm absolutely fine with Hanley hitting less homers this year when you also consider he is batting .420-430 with RISP as opposed to last year when I'm sure it was below .250
