September 17, 200916 yr Does anyone think Hermida should be discussed in the all-time 9 for the outfield??? No matter what you think of him I have a hard time giving him all time 9 status.
September 17, 200916 yr I thought reading this that he had actually been included in the top 9. I checked the home page and he's just one of the options. On a team like ours that hasn't been around but for a decade and a half, some of the guys are just up there for show. We really haven't had enough good players to make some of the choices midly difficult. I am really interested to see how many people are going to rate Uggla over Castillo at second because of his power.

If we're including defense and baserunning (overall player) in this, I'd probably pick Lui, but Uggla is the more productive hitter, and that's really all they're asking for, now that I checked. JMO

JMO Probably just offense, considering they've got the pitcher's offensive numbers listed. If we're going by offense, I'd pick Cody Ross as my pitcher. :thumbup
September 19, 200916 yr Author 2B was hard. I gave it to Castillo. It was close though. I can't believe we didn't get more for Castillo in that trade with the Twins. We got raped in that trade. One of the few bad FO moves.

One of the few bad FO moves. That was just bad luck, really. Bowyer never stayed healthy. If you look at his minor league #'s, Bowyer was a damn good reliever. He was projected as this flamethrower, who could one day become a dominant closer, at the time of the trade. He just never stayed healthy.

He was also known for a straight & flat fastball that just happened to be extremely fast. Straight and fast fastballs end up going real fast the other direction. I really wished he would have stayed healthy so we could have really seen what he was made of, but I don't think he would have ended up as a lights out closer like the Marlins were hoping anyway.
September 19, 200916 yr At the time of the trade Castillo was coming off a year that was top-5 2b in baseball and was signed to an extremely team friendly contract. Yeah he went down a bit in MIN but was still an average to plus 2b for them. The fact that all we got was a decent RP spec (All I see in his numbers are horrible control and a good but not amazing K rate, we're talking about a guy with a MILB BB/K of 1.77) and a fringe SP spec is rather bad.
