My name is Mike Skogmo and I'm currently working on a project that aims to analyze the Florida Marlins as an organization. Having never been to a Marlins game, I am turning to fans like you to help me get a feel for the overall experience. I have written out a few questions, please feel free to write as much or as little as you'd like. Thank you so much for your participation. Please either post your answers or send them to [email protected]

How often do you attend Marlins games?

How would you rate your overall experience(s) at Landshark Stadium (please consider pricing, seating, concessions, comfort, etc.)?

Are you satisfied with the effort of the Marlins organization, in terms of their commitment to the fans and their commitment to winning baseball?

Do you feel that the new stadium will greatly enhance the overall experience?

What would you like to see the Marlins do to improve your enjoyment as a fan of Marlins baseball?

How often do you attend Marlins games?

About 100 games in the last 3 seasons.

How would you rate your overall experience(s) at Landshark Stadium (please consider pricing, seating, concessions, comfort, etc.)?

It's pretty crappy if you talk about pricing. The food isn't very good and it isn't cheap. I've been to several other parks, both MiLB and MLB, and Landshark is the worst in that aspect. The club area has slightly better food, but is also obviously more expensive. The seating in general isn't particularly good either, especially if you sit in the "bullpen" sections where the seats aren't angled, there for everyone has to turn to watch the game. Plus, it rains. Something like 28% of Marlins home games have been rain delayed this year.

Sure. I'm one of the few who believe that the Marlins should run their team as a business, or else you end up like the Rangers. The Marlins have been slowing moving the payroll up over the last couple years and are likely to move it up a bit more until the new ballpark shows up. They signed Hanley and are said to be looking to sign JJ. I'm good with them.

Do you feel that the new stadium will greatly enhance the overall experience?

It has to, right? The new ballpark looks incredible in renderings, and there is now way it can be worse. We've been promised better food, the seats are better, it's an actual ballpark, and no more rain delays or 98° weather. Plus it should increase revenue which should increase payroll, which should in turn better the team. That would in turn make me happy.

What would you like to see the Marlins do to improve your enjoyment as a fan of Marlins baseball?

I'd like to see a bigger payroll next year but I understand reality.

How often do you attend Marlins games?

27 games+

How would you rate your overall experience(s) at Landshark Stadium (please consider pricing, seating, concessions, comfort, etc.)?

awful, horrible, wet, soaked, ripped-off and food poisoned (but let's be clear none of that has to do with marlins mgmt, it's the devil.

Are you satisfied with the effort of the Marlins organization, in terms of their commitment to the fans and their commitment to winning baseball?

yes

Do you feel that the new stadium will greatly enhance the overall experience?

you betcha !!!!!!!!

What would you like to see the Marlins do to improve your enjoyment as a fan of Marlins baseball?

get the f*** out of Landshark Stadium and away from everything that reminds me of Wayne Huizenga...oh and win another world series before I croak.

How often do you attend Marlins games?

About ten per year.

How would you rate your overall experience(s) at Landshark Stadium (please consider pricing, seating, concessions, comfort, etc.)?

Pricing is a little high for the overall product. The only good seats in the house are either club level, infield box (center), and maybe the first few rows of the upper deck. Sitting anywhere else will most likely strain your neck. Overall, I'd give it a two or three out of ten.

Are you satisfied with the effort of the Marlins organization, in terms of their commitment to the fans and their commitment to winning baseball?

Yes. They're in the process of building a new stadium, and they're payroll is about as high as it can go for the amount of revenue they receive.

Do you feel that the new stadium will greatly enhance the overall experience?

Well, it can't get much worse, so yes. No more rain delays every other game, no more 100 degree heat on Sunday afternoons, and everything else about it looks good so far.

What would you like to see the Marlins do to improve your enjoyment as a fan of Marlins baseball?

Show that they're committed to winning, which I think they have for the most part in the past. It will only get better when the new stadium comes.

How often do you attend Marlins games?

Well I've attended about 5 games in the past 3 years. I started UF in '07 and haven't gone back to Miami has often as I'd like in order to watch games. =[

How would you rate your overall experience(s) at Landshark Stadium (please consider pricing, seating, concessions, comfort, etc.)?

The seating is horrible especially considering the heat in Miami. One of the few games I got to go to this season was rained out. The food is absolutely atrocious, greasy, and overpriced with limited selection.

Are you satisfied with the effort of the Marlins organization, in terms of their commitment to the fans and their commitment to winning baseball?

I think they've done the best they can with what they've been given but I can't honestly say I'm satisfied .

Do you feel that the new stadium will greatly enhance the overall experience?

Oh my god, yes.

Better marketing plllllleeeease! The commercials are terrible and the perception of the organization outside of avid Marlins fans is terrible. I understand that there is little they can do about it but that would be one aspect of the Marlins I would like to see improve. I'm hoping the new stadium will help... also, I don't want to see the color orange in ANY aspect of the "new" Miami Marlins.

How often do you attend Marlins games?

About 15 to 20 Per Year

I enjoyed going to Shea More the few time I've been there. Landshark Stadium is expensive for a college student and even a family to visit. $10 for parking, $20 for tickets, and thats already $30 to get in the door. Not to mention $7 for a plastic 12 oz of beer and the crappiest food to never come out of a Microwave and you get the feeling Wayne Huizinga was trying to undercut the Marlins every chance he got.

Are you satisfied with the effort of the Marlins organization, in terms of their commitment to the fans and their commitment to winning baseball?

I'm very satisfied, but sometime wish that the fans voice was worth more to them. With the upcoming change in color scheme away from teal and into possibly Orange and blue, it's becoming more and more likely we will become just another face in the crowd when it comes to personality and uniqueness.

Do you feel that the new stadium will greatly enhance the overall experience?

Yes, not in just a "It's not Landshark Stadium" way either. I'm a fan of architecture and art, and the steps Loria has taken to the new stadium is one that Miami can be very proud of. It's goign to look great, and can adapt every year based on his urging for interchangeable photo's and colors.

The new ballpark will make it a Event to go to a game, not just a game. it can be a fun experience if you go there to look around and check it out.

What would you like to see the Marlins do to improve your enjoyment as a fan of Marlins baseball?

A slight improvemnt in payroll, but also a willingness to sign a primier free agent pitcher or hitter to compliment the assest they already have. A Matt Holiday type will look good in whatever color they want to drape him it. Not to mention the .300 average he'll add behind Hanley in the lineup.

Don't listen to Piazza, he's a Met fan. Hell, he enjoyed SHEA, that should tell you something.

Plus, he's crazy.

I'm a Marlin fan first. I enjoyed shea because although it was a dump---they didn't put makeup on it and tell me it was pretty.

Everytime I go to Landshark, I feel like there's lipstick on a pig. I hate that friggin place for baseball.

I still say Landshark is better than Shea was, that place was horrific, and dirty at that. At least Landshark is clean.
