JUPITER, Fla. -- Marlins All-Star Hanley Ramirez was scratched from the lineup on Monday with a tight right groin.

The ailment is not believed to be serious, and the 26-year-old shortstop is listed as day-to-day.

Ramirez was slatted to bat in his customary third spot on Monday against the Twins at Roger Dean Stadium. The announcement that he wouldn't play was made less than an hour before the 1:05 p.m. ET start.

During warmups, Ramirez did his regular work. He took batting practice.

It would appear doubtful that Ramirez will make the trip on Tuesday, when the Marlins play against the Braves in Lake Buena Vista, Fla. Florida has a split-squad day on Tuesday. Half of the team will head to the Orlando, Fla., area to face Atlanta, and the other half will go to Viera, Fla., to take on the Nationals.

Ramirez was scheduled for the Braves game.

Ramirez has appeared in eight of the Marlins' first 11 games, and he's batting .250 with three doubles and two RBIs in Grapefruit League action. Ramirez had an RBI double against the Mets in Sunday's 5-1 win.

The Marlins were without their top two sluggers on Monday. Jorge Cantu wasn't in camp, excused because of flu-like symptoms.

Cantu tentatively is scheduled to go to Viera on Tuesday.
